well for a start the main difference is most blues come from the merseyside area while the scum import there fans from over the country , our cultural differences are vast which is now creating a distinctive hatred, theres nothing worse than a cockney red slavering on about how hes supported the [Poor language removed] since 1970 something and how the fat spanish one is going to build the next greatest team,
also add on to the constant bleating on how they have a divine right to win the premier when its plainly obvious that they are [Poor language removed],
fatboys comment on calling us a small club showed what a t""t he is and there chairmen have got them into massive debt {nothing wrong there} and hopefully they will go bankrupt if there is a god, the fact that the council bent over backwards and gave them the park to build there next shithole on and we have to in fight over moving to kirby(y)

Some of us southerners have seen the light though (y) (and not all Londoners are cockneys!)

1. Who do you consider your main rival?

Aston Villa

2. Has it changed over the last 10 years? Why?

It changes every season depending on our targets and the targets of others around us.

3. Who do you think Everton/Liverpool fans consider their main rival?

Majority of blues will say the RS, majority of RS fans will say Man Utd

4. Why? Is it History? Locality? League Status? Success?

Evertonians will say RS due to location and past title battles, RS will say Utd due to location but more due to the fact they dont like the place and Utd are better than them

5. What is your opinion of the following statement? “Bitter blue”

True in a lot of cases. The people who say the RS for Q1 i consider to come under that category, rivalries are different to enemies.

6. How different do you consider the relationship between EFC/LFC and Rangers/Celtic and MUFC/City?

Hard to tell from the outside looking in, I would guess that the Old Firm must be the more fierce of the 3 due to the constant league rivalry. I would think the Manchester rivalry means more to City than Utd, but that could change in a year or so when the arabs buy their way to glory.

7. What is your opinion of the Heysel disaster? Did it affect you in any way?

The incident got us banned from Europe when we were favourites to lift the thing. Regardless of who provoked the situation, video evidence clearly shows the sheer hate and venom with which the RS encroached the Juve fans, where the Juve fans had knowhere else to go but backwards.

8. What impact do you think Heysel had on the relationship of LFC and EFC fans?

Majority of blues despise the RS for getting us booted out of Europe, it hasnt really affected the aspirations and progress of the RS, leaving the blues seething.

9. What is your opinion of the Hillsborough disaster? Did it affect you in any way?

No opinion, not affected me.

10. What impact do you think Hillsborough had on the relationship of EFC/LFC fans

Shouldn't have had any bad effect, if any should have united the fans as plenty of blues will have been mates with RS fans involved in the incident.

11. How do you define success for EFC? Rate the following

- Winning the league
- FA Cup
- Champions league
- European qualification
- Financial security

Silverwear

12. How do you think Liverpool fans would rate the previous?

Silverwear

success = silverwear for any side

If you were to ask progress? then consistent European qualification for Everton.

13. How important do you think it is to move stadium financially? What are the advantages and disadvantages?

Dont care, I watch the team thats on the pitch, doesnt matter where or how much money they are worth.

14. What is your opinion of a ground share?

As above

15. What is your opinion of local media coverage of Everton and Liverpool?

Liverpool generally receive a lot more, but thats usually because their players are [Poor language removed] and batter people in bars and run over people in their cars. Where as all of Evertons players are ultimate professionals, instead of battering people, the likes of Phil Nevilles raises money for charity away from the media. I prefer for liverpool to take the limelight.

16. What is your opinion of national media coverage of Everton and Liverpool?

As above

Why do you think there are more pundits that are Liverpool fans or previous Liverpool players?

Majority of Evertons players have been good enough to stay in the game and coach youngsters, instead of having their face in the media and further lining their own pockets and doing [Poor language removed] all for anyone else.

17. Is the locality of the fan base of your club important to you?

I believe so.

18. How do you think the globalisation of the EPL affects Everton football club? Is it important to you that Everton take the global opportunities like Manchester United do?

I dont care. For me, thats not the game of football, thats the business, and I'm not a fan of the business.

Changes every season based on Leauge Placeing.

3. Who do you think Everton/Liverpool fans consider their main rival?

Traditonaly for Us RS. For the Utd.

4. Why? Is it History? Locality? League Status? Success?

Combination of the four.

5. What is your opinion of the following statement? “Bitter blue”

Justifiably True!

6. How different do you consider the relationship between EFC/LFC and Rangers/Celtic and MUFC/City

There isnt the sinister element the is to the old firm, much more important to both clubs then the Manchester Derby.

7. What is your opinion of the Heysel disaster? Did it affect you in any way?

A human Trajedy, in football terms it was unfair to our club.

8. What impact do you think Heysel had on the relationship of LFC and EFC fans?

I think Everton fans were disgusted with the incident on a human level, but also feel the cirme punished our club unjustifiably.

9. What is your opinion of the Hillsborough disaster? Did it affect you in any way?

A terrible tragidy and an awfull loss of life, i feel nothing but compassion for those who lost loved ones.

10. What impact do you think Hillsborough had on the relationship of EFC/LFC fans

I tink it brought a community together regardless of football. Eve today i wont buy the sun.

11. How do you define success for EFC? Rate the following

- Winning the league
- FA Cup
- Champions league
- European qualification
- Financial security

Anyof the above, persoanly id prioritse the champions leauge.

12. How do you think Liverpool fans would rate the previous?

The Leauge

13. How important do you think it is to move stadium financially? What are the advantages and disadvantages?

I think its vital for our surivial in the long term, disadvantages are a split in the fanbase, people banging on as if their experts when they dont have a bog and boring transport plans threads.

14. What is your opinion of a ground share?

100% against.

15. What is your opinion of local media coverage of Everton and Liverpool?

Definite [Poor language removed] Bias!

16. What is your opinion of national media coverage of Everton and Liverpool? Why do you think there are more pundits that are Liverpool fans or previous Liverpool players?

In fairness many of their players have expeirence and success in the game, although this doesnt make them experts i understand why they are selected. Definite Liverpool bias nationaly and internationaly but this is largely because their fans are spread out aroudnthe country and the world.

17. Is the locality of the fan base of your club important to you?

Nope!

18. How do you think the globalisation of the EPL affects Everton football club? Is it important to you that Everton take the global opportunities like Manchester United do?

Very, its the future in essence the days of creaming what you can locally are over.

1. Who do you consider your main rival? Liverpool

2. Has it changed over the last 10 years? Why? No

3. Who do you think Everton/Liverpool fans consider their main rival? Everton/Liverpool

4. Why? Is it History? Locality? League Status? Success? Primarily history and locality

5. What is your opinion of the following statement? “Bitter blue”. I grew up in Liverpool, but have hardly been back there since the early 1980s. I heard ‘bitter blue’ for the first time about 3 years ago.

6. How different do you consider the relationship between EFC/LFC and Rangers/Celtic and MUFC/City

There are several fundamental differences. Rangers and Celtic were founded by separate and distinct ethnic and religious groups within the same city: Celtic by catholics of Irish origin, and Rangers by Scots protestants. The two communities were, and have to a large extent remained separate. The same isn’t true for Everton/Liverpool which both trace their origins to a Methodist church, and which have never shown any particular discernible religious or ethnic split in their respetive support. I believe the same is true for Manchester City/United.

7. What is your opinion of the Heysel disaster? Did it affect you in any way? It was a huge shock and initially one which united everyone in grief.

8. What impact do you think Heysel had on the relationship of LFC and EFC fans?

As I don’t meet many other Everton fans I have never come across any who were openly bitter about being excluded from Europe as a result of Heysel. However I have on several occasions been taunted by Liverpool fans who found it amusing that we were excluded from Europe because of Heysel. The Liverpool fans in question were not from Merseyside or surroundings..

9. What is your opinion of the Hillsborough disaster? Did it affect you in any way? Same as before. It was a huge shock and initially one which united everyone in grief.

10. What impact do you think Hillsborough had on the relationship of EFC/LFC fans

I’m not aware of any.

11. How do you define success for EFC? Rate the following

1- Winning the league
2- FA Cup
3- Champions league
4- European qualification
- Financial security

I don’t regard financial security as evidence of ‘success’. Rather it is something that could make success easier to attain by allowing the purchase of more expensive players.

12. How do you think Liverpool fans would rate the previous?
I don’t much care, but those I know seem unaware of their club’s potentially risky financial situation and regard the Champions League as being more important than domestic competition.

13. How important do you think it is to move stadium financially? What are the advantages and disadvantages?

A modern stadium complex that can be used to generate income more than once every two weeks is now essential for clubs at the top level.
The disadvantages would be if the investment requied left the club in a financially perilous position, if any partnerships involved compromised the club’s ability to act in its own best interests and if a new stadium failed to preserve the atmosphere and traditions of the club.

14. What is your opinion of a ground share?

Makes sound commercial sense. I have no objection as long as it is on equal terms. It might also help end the stupid ‘nastiness’ that has grown up between the two sets of fans.

15. What is your opinion of local media coverage of Everton and Liverpool?

I don’t live ‘locally’ so no comment.

16. What is your opinion of national media coverage of Everton and Liverpool? Why do you think there are more pundits that are Liverpool fans or previous Liverpool players?

Again I don’t see that much of it and I’m not aware of which pundits are Liverpool fans.
The number of former Liverpool players working as pundits is due in part to their high profile after the successes of the 70s-80s – this is especially true for those players who put their names to columns they don’t write themselves. But for those who appear on TV it’s also a large part due to their being able to perform to camera, a skill not every former player can perfect. The same is true for those who actually write articles themselves.
Andy Gray, Gary Lineker and Pat Nevin are former Everton players so its not as if there is a ban on former blues.

17. Is the locality of the fan base of your club important to you?

Yes. Football clubs were founded as ‘local clubs’ and with very few exceptions remain rooted in the same localities. This is an essential part of the history and tradition of the game and it is important that it is retained.

18. How do you think the globalisation of the EPL affects Everton football club? Is it important to you that Everton take the global opportunities like Manchester United do?

Globalisation of the EPL has made the game far more money oriented. Whereas before it was sufficient for a club to have a board consisting of moderately well off local businessmen the flood of TV money and possibility of earning big money from global marketing has transformed it into the preserve of only the super rich or those who can negotiate leveraged buy outs on the back of anticipated marketing revenue.

By all means cultivate an international fan base to boost revenue but not at the expense of losing sight of what the club is or where it belongs.

1. Who do you consider your main rival?
Aston Villa, Rs
2. Has it changed over the last 10 years? Why?
10 years ago it was the likes of Coventry, it's changed due to our league status and that of other clubs.

3. Who do you think Everton/Liverpool fans consider their main rival?
In general for Everton it's rs, for them it's Utd

4. Why? Is it History? Locality? League Status? Success?
for history and locality it's rs, for current league status and historical success, it's Villa. for them, Everton historically and locally, and Utd for all four reasons

5. What is your opinion of the following statement? “Bitter blue”
It describes me when I think about the past and how it affected us and shaped our current status. It certainly doesn't define me or Evertonians in general. That adjective would have to be 'proud'

6. How different do you consider the relationship between EFC/LFC and Rangers/Celtic and MUFC/City
we are rivals due to history, locality and to a certain degree success.
Rangers/Celtic on every level
City and Utd only on a local level

7. What is your opinion of the Heysel disaster? Did it affect you in any way?
Firstly, and most importantly, on a human level. Terrible Tradgedy.
to a lesser degree it shaped my answer to question 5. We are NOT bitter about their success ( envious? of course)

8. What impact do you think Heysel had on the relationship of LFC and EFC fans?
Strained it

9. What is your opinion of the Hillsborough disaster? Did it affect you in any way?
Another terrible, tragic loss of life. It saddened me and frightened me a little I suppose

10. What impact do you think Hillsborough had on the relationship of EFC/LFC fans
Obviously brought them closer together for a time. However I feel that the way some elements of rs fans, club and media have used their tradgedy to gain sympathy and relegate Heysel to the memory hole has added to the resentment.

11. How do you define success for EFC? Rate the following

- 2.Winning the league
- 3.FA Cup
- 1.Champions league
- 4.European qualification
- 5.Financial security
I define success for us as progressing and sustaining the progress. Any of the first 4 would help bring about number 5

12. How do you think Liverpool fans would rate the previous?
The same as me

13. How important do you think it is to move stadium financially? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
Moving to the right stadium in the right place is imortant
Advantages would start with improving the economy and status of the club. the disadvantages would start with a sad departure from Goodison

14. What is your opinion of a ground share?
Would make sense to me

15. What is your opinion of local media coverage of Everton and Liverpool?
Haven't followed the local media closely since I moved to Spain 15 years ago. Can't imag¡ne the rs bias has disappeared though

16. What is your opinion of national media coverage of Everton and Liverpool? Why do you think there are more pundits that are Liverpool fans or previous Liverpool players?
16.1 Same as question 15.
16.2 Because they're a glory hunting shower and they look for it, plus the National media is pretty much the same as the local media in their preferences.

17. Is the locality of the fan base of your club important to you?
To a certain extent

18. How do you think the globalisation of the EPL affects Everton football club? Is it important to you that Everton take the global opportunities like Manchester United do?
At the moment we're only getting crumbs, but due to the popularity of the EPL they are pretty big crumbs.
If we can, yes
