Kendall, the man, built a great team for all seasons from scratch, tragedy that it was taken away from us. Loved Royle too, made Limpar into a great winger, that I loved watching, in fact alongside Kanchelskis we probably had the two best wingers in the game at that time. Royle was let down by Johnson, pure and simple. Of the others thought Bobby Robson, had the dignity and class that epitomised our club.
 
Imagine if we would have replaced Howard in 87 with Alex Ferguson! Sadly he had joined United 6 months earlier.

We were the most attractive club around that time and would have had more than a decent chance of persuading him to come from Aberdeen.

Although I suppose it was always going to be Harvey's job.
 
We were not ruthless enough back then, we could have had our pick of managers. Up until Royle left, i felt we always had a chance of being a force. But it went downhill fast from then. It was so quick our decline, absolutely shocking. Devastating.
