Your advice to the next manager of Everton

Alright folks, this is your opportunity. Let's assume, for argument's sake, that David Unsworth and the next manager of Everton have nothing better to do than to read every comment in this thread. What would your message to them be ? What should be their priorities ? What are the main problems that need fixing in the team, and what can be done, right now, to start turning things around and getting results ? What should be their aims in the January window ? What should they be looking to achieve with Everton football club ?

Make it good, people. Together we can fix this.

If they felt they had nothing better to do, I would advise them to resign straight away :p

They will need to harp on endlessly about 'Evertons rich history' and how they are going to make Everton great again. Get Ross Barkley to commit to a long-term contract, then put him straight on the transfer market to get a good price for him. Don't rock the boat and upset the old school players in the squad, or (despite being professional athletes being paid a Kings ransom to do their job) they will stop playing for you and spread their toxicity through the rest of the team. Play the players in their natural positions. If somethings not working for you, then change it. Enjoy your time at the club, but don't plan on being here longer than 18 months ;)

Errrr, we are in a relegation battle so therefore lets get out of the bottom 3 first please. We can do that with a strong formation, playing players in their best positions and adding wingers and pace.

Seriously....get the fans onside ASAP and use us to your advantage. The club in many ways is unrecognisable since its former glories but the fans lining the rickety iron terraces are the one remaining link. These people can make or break players and managers depending on your ability to grasp what Everton means.

Realise on day one that Everton are not just another Premier League football club, but the conscience and heartbeat of at least one half of a brooding, moody, decent, hardworking, honest city.

Embrace our illustrious history. Make every day at the office part of a vision to recapture that spirit, and write yourself into history alongside those greats.

Even if you fail, you'll have won plenty of friends.

you mean exactly what Martinez tried to do, and he didn't leave with many friends haha
