The amount of people who are saying because were 12th were not a serious relegation candidate is embarrassing and worrying.

We have played 22 games and are 4 points from the drop zone, we have won 5 games.

12 months ago the team who after 22 games were 12th had won 6 games and were 5 points from the drop zone.

It was Norwhich City, they got relegated.

Comedy gold this thread.

Having a go at people for not being complacent about relegation and being unwittingly drawn into an underhand conspiracy to get rid of the manager.

Truly hilarious.

There is mucho hilarity on here Mi Amigo. From both sides of the coin though, to be fair. I think we've all accepted our "situation". Some accept that we're in a dog fight. Some accept that we ain't in any such thing and will be absolutely fine. I'm in the latter camp. Hilarious huh?

Nobody is complacent, there is absolutely no doubt that we can go down from our current position. If we pick up 4 draws and 4 losses from our next 8 games we are going to be bang in relegation trouble. If we Lose the next 3-4 likewise.

However we do have a stronger squad that Norwich last season. We also have players returning from injury. We can play a lot better. For now I am quite comfortable that we won't (not can't) go down. Obviously, this situation can change quickly.

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, we aren't Norwich (good news!) but Norwich aren't in the PL at the moment, furthermore this season isn't last season.

With regards 'we can play a lot better', I tend to agree, its the 'why we not doing it' that is bugging me a tad.

Well yes and that's a legitimate criticism, I think everyone is thinking that really. All my post was trying to say, was that currently I don't feel particularly worried about relegation. If we were to lose 3-4 on the bounce though, I do think that would change my perception.

One win in thirteen. Anyone know what our worst run of form was under Moyes?

Two wins in 14 at the start of the 2005/06 season I think.

If we only ensure safety come May then deffo he should be sacked in the summer so we can look at other options. Otherwise I'd give him one more season so we'll get an idea where he's taken us in 3 years; forward or backwards.

And if we look at the amount of games we drew in those only cos he looked to secure a 1 goal leads and conceding late on, then I'd say Martinez in!

Palace will come at us a little bit more, we have the players to nick a goal in that context whilst hopefully defending stoutly at the back.

This is what does my head in. With the players RM has at his disposal, we talk of nicking a goal, how pathetic is that. We should be talking of the team going out playing football and just brushing CP aside instead of this cringing phrase. But that is where we are at because our play is basically abysmal.

Not going to mess about here this is down to RM's so called football style, it is this that has crippled our players and our performance.

People now talk of well wait for the CP game and then, after that if it is not a good result it will "oh well the derby game" and it will go on ad infinitum.

I think come the end of the season the way matters stand now we will not be relegated but could end up just above the drop zone, very similar to the way RM had Wigan for two seasons before they finally caved in. I stand by how I have voted RM should go now to give an interim manager a chance or get a new manager.

As regards a new manager what about Aitor Karanka?
