I'm not hammering other players.
I'm stating the fact that those players you referenced have not played well this season.
I like Del. I like Kev. I've got plenty of time for Lennon and Ross is boss.
But, none of them have performed this season, and none of them have played as well as Bolasie has for us (and I'm by no means saying Bolasie has been world class or anything).
My concern is we are now left with exactly the same players we had for those positions last term. And in the last two months of last season we were just as bad going forward as we were at defending.
Even if it is Depay coming in in January, we desperately need fresh blood in that role.
Why do you keep banging this drum - no one else but Bolasie has played in anything like the same role, so you can't compare them.
We only know one thing - we've been dire all season with Bolasie as the primary outball. That's what we know; we
don't know whether a system change with Deulofeu or Mirallas would have been better because we've had to shoehorn the record signing into the side regardless of form and whether the system with him in at all works.
In an ideal world, he'd have been deservedly dropped for the United game along with Jagielka and Barkley and we wouldn't be having this conversation. But Koeman, for whatever reason, has felt compelled to persist with proven failure. At least now his hand is forced to try something else, and looking at how we've began this season, that really isn't a bad thing.
When Bolasie comes back, expectation will be less and perhaps he'll slot in as the squad player he should be, rather than the main guy he clearly isn't.
