Yannick Bolasie

I agree mate. We have played some nice moves in and around the box and that is a continuation of what we saw under RM in his time here when we were at our best. I'm glad Koeman isn't trying to get them to unlearn that. You come in and change the stuff not working and leave what works alone.

But my point is that, for me, we don't get forward with a lot of numbers unless the game is needing to be recovered. We slot back into a numbers behind the ball type of play that then looks for what is becoming our signature move: releasing Bolasie with a more direct ball.

I've mentioned a couple of times he's got Coleman and Baines way more disciplined and their primary objective is to defend. winning breeds confidence and in time we will hopefully see more goals like Coleman scored yesterday. It's about knowing when to go forward.

Bolasie is a great out ball and basically gains us 50 yards if we are under pressure. Replace him with Del and the same would happen, or with Lennon or Mirallas and an in form Barkley can do the same. the important thing imo is there's a mixture to how we are scoring the goals and yeah it's a work in progress, but winning games along the way is a massive way to get everyone on board

Coleman looks like he's back to the player we shelled out 60 grand on...looked quality on Saturday like. Welcome back Seamus.

So the stuff that's working is down to Martinez and your only gripe is about the stuff Koeman has decided to do differently.

You are the sneakiest sausage David.

Got to love Dave's consistency. Didn't give Moyes an ounce of credit for Martinez's first season, but then in season 2 and 3 when it all went wrong blamed the mentality of all of Moyes' players. Now though all the good stuff of Koeman's start is down to Martinez. Unbelievable.

4 wins at Goodison last season, I walked out after every game promising I wouldnt go the next week, for roughly 18months, dont let the first season and the cup victories blind you Ray.

We attacked like morons, slow painful passing that every single team in the league was on to, it made my eyes bleed.

Every game?

Surely not in the early months of last season when we were brushing Chelsea, Sunderland and Villa aside with great attacking football.

The 1-1 draw with Palace saw some exhilarating football from the Blues.....only the woodwork stopped us running out comfortable winners.

Even the defeats versus Leicester and Stoke were sprinkled liberally with sparkling football.

Last season overall was bad all right, but it wasn't without its highlights and the real rot didn't set in until after the New Year.

The Martinez era was not the wasteland too many on here would have us believe.

I'm afraid it was, we finished bottom half last two seasons mate. We were closer to the bottom 3 in both seasons than we were to the top 6.

This is a wind up, right?

You are trying to out Dave, Dave?

We played well once last season in the league, away to the saint mutants.

No it wasn't but in the end it just made me frustrated and angry.

It actually wasn't.

Whether the revisionists want to or not, that first season cannot be expunged from the record books.

That accounts for 33% of his time here.

The European venture was an absolute delight until his brain fart with Alcaraz in the latter stages.

And even up to the Christmas of last season, Everton were terrific to watch.

The last three or four months of his reign were horrendous, no doubt about that and the sacking was both justified and inevitable, but the whole three years were not as bad as some of our friends would have you believe.
