Yakubu

he did ok, didnt see him jump once, which is why i herald victor so highly.

pressure the defence, it takes an enormous amout of skill for intricate play to feet for 90 minutes.

He did pretty well considering he was the only one up front.

He's much more of a danger when we play with two upfront, not unlike AJ.

I didn't think he had a great game. He was infinitely better against birmingham. Seems that he is either amazing or poor.

i only saw the first half before i had to go to play football myself, from what I saw i wasn't impressed. it might be because as of recent, everyone i've seen played up front by themselves (AJ, Vaughan) have ran hard, and yak just isn't that type of player. its really frustrating to see him quit on balls.

did he pick up the pace in the 2nd half, i know he fed Vic the ball we scored off of, but did he actually put in a £11.25m performance?

There in lies the reason why people will never think Yakubu will be good enough it should've been an undisclosed amount. When Yakubu plays as the lone striker Phil Neville actually keeps the ball on the floor and looks to play it to Arteta I think we play better stuff when we've only Yakubu as the striker as he does neat little touches and some of his passes are outstanding for a forward.

The burden of the pricetag might actually be the reason why he'll never be an Everton great as its clear that he's a confidence player when he's scoring goals we love him and he plays great when he's not we're sat around saying...11.25 Million for that?!

Forget the pricetag that's the price of decent strikers these days:
Bianchi was 9 Million
Darren Bent is 18 Million
Yakubu is 11 Million

I know who I'd rather have splashed out on.

I thought the yak played really well last night he seems to be getting better and better,he is not used to being upfront on his own and i think he has adapted very well

I was impressed by Yak last night. He showed good strength on the ball and held it up well. It's probably no coincidence that Anichebe could give them such a hard time after Yakubu had softened them up a bit first.

at times his first touch was not the greatest, it could have been because he was being dragged back/held onto, and in places he came deep to pick the ball up and try to force the play into the nuremburg half. he didnt want to know about headers, he backed in and i suppose tried to help pressure the second ball.

Yak had a good game last night, might have turned out better if he had another striker to help.

About Tim Cahill, is it just me. I do not think he is yet at full fitness.

I though the played well and much more to our style. He's a goalscorer at the end of the day so we're never gonna see a fantastic game of football from him. As long as he scores goals im happy.

You know what?

I don't give a rat's ass what his "work rate" is or if he "chases down" lost causes.

All I care about is that he gets in position to score goals.

He is doing so.

Totaly agree dont want to see him by the corner flag with the ball after chasing a lost cause down to give it to osman/carsley in the middle. i want other players doing that to give it to him in the middle,he is with out doubt are best finisher. he's now looking a lot sharper and fitting in with are style of play. thought he had a good game last night held the ball up well. well done lad!!
