The question should be were would we have been without the mini revival when the manager came in? It's easier when your not deep in the brown stuff.

I wouldn't exactly back our current crop to have fought their way out of a proper relegation scrap. The problem is we'll never know for sure.

We'd have probably fluttered around there for a bit but we'd have found - as we have found - the wins to pull us out of the trouble.

Saw our arse with the Southampton performance but I think any half decent boss would have sorted us out with a bit more respect than the Scam Man.

Would we have gone down? The honest answer is nobody knows. However I i think it was a highly unlikely scenario.

Did Moshri panic? Yes, but only after his millions failed to get the man he wanted.

Did Unsworth have the ability to steady us? It wasn't looking good.

Was Allardyce the right appointment? Stats can be skewed to support all arguments.

The question i'm responding to is literally 'would we have gone down without Allardyce?'. Whether we were in a mess or not is neither here nor there really when i'm answering the actual question.

I think 'outright lies' is a bit harsh. I've said before, we might have only conceded 2 at Burnley and 1 at Swansea for example, but in my opinion anyone who tells me we defended better in those games than we were in equivalent games earlier in the season is simply using the amount of goals conceded as 'evidence' of something they don't understand. If we'd conceded 4 or 5 at Burnley no neutral would have batted an eyelid, they absolutely massacred us.

Fair comments.

Unsworth would of kept us up, his home league record is awesome, he had tough away games. I’d sack Sam an give Unsworth the last 4 games

It is an impossible question to answer and ultimately relies on speculation. All we can accurately say is that Sam has kept us mid table whilst producing an uninspiring to terrible set of performances.

Which leaves a taste of stale gravy in ones mouth from a season which looked to promise so much...

I suggest the man who really saved from the club from relegation was not the manager but one of our players. I'm hinting of course at the man who inspires, the man who commands instant respect; of course I'm referring to our great on-field leader....CAPT JAGS.
Capt Jags sits at the top table of legendary football leaders. I recall Rio Ferdinand saying that he used to watch tapes of Capt Jags for inspiration. And when Capt Jags dons the blue Santa Claus outfit, the whole Everton family know it's time to put up the blue Christmas tree and prepare for another 'best Blue Chrimbo ever!'
Thank God we extended his contract. While Capt Jags is around to inspire our mighty team, we will always remain one of the giants of European club football.

Know yer ‘istory.....

EFC has only been relegated twice in its long history, the last time before most posters on here were even born....including ol’ Khal and that is saying something

So whilst it is impossible to know for certain if we would have went down or not, precedent suggests we would not have.

That’ll do for me.

So I am not letting this charlatan take the credit for keeping us up ;)
