Worst Transfer Window Ever?

Far from the worst as at least the bank aren't demanding a player be sold to pay £10m off the overdraft.

But in relative terms. i.e. given the influx of TV cash which should be available for team strengthening, this one is as frustrating as it gets.

It might have been spent on increased wages for those new contracts that were signed and obviously the agents fees for those respective deals.
I get the feeling the club is playing hardball with spurs (probably lose that to) over Lennon to see if theres any other takers and if they are prepared to keep him on the books than sell to us at our valuation.
No idea if Cleverly got a big signing on fee and the same goes for the Duel.
To keep the stars we have on the books we have had to increase contracts to keep ahead of those that have upped there squad offers. Shaqiri has joined Stoke having played for Bayern and then Inter - hes there record signing and I suspect he will be top earner. Did we have the option of putting him on equal or more cash to Lukaku?

The frustrating thing about Shaqiri is that he is the exact player the side needs for creativity. 12 million isn't a great deal these days.

2004/5 was a pretty bad summer. Marcus Bent and Tim Cahill commingled in. Rooney leaving right at the deadline. Board room problems. Some how we had a good year. The year before didn't sign anyone then bought four on deadline day.

Or what about the summer we only got Jo on loan?

It's too early to tell. Most on this forum used to think that the window that we signed stones (and that is it) was the worst. This place was up in arms over that one... Now it looks genius.

Not really - everyone saw Stones was a good signing, but we were right in the mix for Champions League that year, and did absolutely nothing to help us take that extra step. A couple of strong signings in that window and the whole future of the club may have been different.

2011-12 was dire:

Transfers In:

Hahnemann (free)
Drenthe (loan)
Stracq (loan)

Transfers Out:

Arteta
Yak
Beckford
Vaughan
The absolute pits though the sight is Staq trying to head the ball into the net while on the ground might have made the misery worth it. We should have A Kind of Crap Hall But Tried Hard Hall of Fame. He'd walk right in.

Worst one had to be when we qualified for the champions league and I think we only brought in phil Neville, great ambition by the club and nothings really changed ever since.

Mate I was in an internet cafe in Amsterdam tripping on mushrooms when I read we'd signed Phil Neville. I haven't done drugs since.

We did sign a few players that year though, just none of them were of the quality we needed to make a go of the CL. Simon Davies, Van Der Meyde, Nuno Valente. And we made Arteta's loan permanent.

We missed out on Scott Parker, Joey Barton, and Craig Bellamy that summer if I remember rightly. Barton was always going to self destruct but the other two would have been huge for us.

Although Deulofeu and Cleverley were smart business, this window has potential to become a prelude for chaotic scenes. Obviously it involves Stones sell.

But thats highly unlikely scene that.

Evans Lennon seem to be the pair that pretty much everyone expects but at the same time aknowledges that it doesnt lift us higher.

If we cant do better than this...dissapointment will jump out off the charts. Sadness is the word really, cause it would definitely show our board has given up.

Pretty much every team has geared up and signed exiciting players. We are doing obvious and safe signings. Nothing bad innit on the other hand but board and Martinez must hit it hard now.
I believe....Still. ...

We need atleast 3 new permanents and one of them needs to be big fish.
It NEEDS to be.

We have been humiliated too many times this summer already.

But the argument is always that Lukaku was bought with the Fellaini money, no?

People have no patience whatsoever, this isn't football manager where you buy a player in a day. A tfr window is to be judged at the end, to see if you're in better shape than you were in the beginning.

I'd be surprised if we had everything tied up before deadline day, and that's nothing to do with money, it's to do with if we move early then the likes of Spurs, Arsenal etc. may also move in on the player.

Mate, one thing you can't accuse any everton fan of is lack of patience. I was in primary school the last time I saw everton win a trophy. I'm now approaching my 30th. Come on?

Yeah, ok. The Fellaini money (2nd half) went on Lukaku. What about the 5mil from Vic, the 5mil from Jelavic, the 2.5mil sell on from Foreshaw? We didn't have any money for players then and we don't now. Nothing has changed and nothing will with the current board in charge.

We get by on TV money and players sales. We buy players with roughly 50% of the player sales. Anybody who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves.

But yeah, we're waiting for Spurs and Arsenal to buy players because they'd come in for our targets otherwise. Bet we nearly had Sanchez down on a 5 year deal before Arsenal came in from out of nowhere. If only we had waited!

If we're waiting for anything it's for Spurs to drop their price on lennon from 4mil down to 3mil. But knowing this board we'll probably end up paying 4.5mil on deadline day because Levy will know how desperate we are.

FFS. Some people need to get some fresh air. We've signed a good player in Cleverly (for peanuts) to finally replace the Late Darron Gibson. We've signed a promising, young, arrogant attacker in Deulofeu for 1/3 what he was valued at a year ago.

There are 17(?) days left to get business done. For Everton, who typically sign 2-4 players in the dying hours of the final day, this is a [self edited] eternity for the likes of Ebepton FC.

GOT is currently gagging on unsupported rumours and fictional, nightmare scenarios until everybody starts to puke this negative tosh all over the forum. Whinge and purge. Whinge and purge.

On September 2 maybe, but this is becoming absurd.
