Worst Transfer Window Ever?

Have to say that this window has been decent so far, Deulofeu is a coup. Whether it's a decent one, which unfortunately won't be good enough given how Stoke, West Ham etc have strengthened, or the window we need it to be, depends on this attacking mid and his ability to play clever balls to break down defences and stop rendering Lukaku useless.

I think its the worse, not because we have done next to nothing, but other clubs like Stoke are now out spending us and getting the same players in with have been linked with. If we cant compete with teams on that level anymore what hope do we have? West Ham, Villa, Stoke, Swansea....etc all seem to be able to do more than we can.
Its also been a long time when going into a season if we could get a top 10 place at the end of it we would take it now.

Short term memory...2011-12 was the worst in recent memory.

Negative net spend of ~£17m

This has been a hugely frustrating transfer window so far (it hasn't closed yet), but this being Everton there must be an even worse one. What was the absolute worst transfer window in terms of losing a key player, getting no players, getting a last minute terrible player, having a great player fail a medical, having a real exciting link turn out to be jarg, etc?
It's the worst one every year, depending on time of year.

Yeah but we still spent more in that window than we have in this one? For me half the problem with this window is that everyone else is making themselves stronger, we are standing still, do that this summer and you will go backwards, and we really cant afford to be worse than we were last season.

We spent NOTHING in that window mate. Drenthe and Stracq on loan...Hahnemann on a free.

Arteta, Yak, Beckford, and Vaughan out.

Not just under Martinez but the transfer policy of our club seems flawed. Only in the pre-season of 2006 when we got lescott, Johnson and et al in early and peoduced our best ever start to a premiership season, have we conducted our transfer system early. Surely we should have targets lined up, if they are in available or too pricey for our budget then we move onto our next target. Leaving your business right till the end of the window is risky and often flawed. Remember we are told that jan is a poor month to recruit players in that window, so as it stands we aim to cram our business into the last two weeks of the summer window when the season has already started.

Your right, i was thinking that was the window we got Jelavić but he came in the Jan window, after that window we got 7 points i see in the first 7 games, can see us being that bad again.... or worse

It's a tough run of games, that's for sure. We will see.

That January window saw Gibson in and Jelavic in...but we got rid of Saha for free (still can't believe we didn't get something from Spurs), Bily for £5m, and Mustafi for free.

Absolutely horrific summer followed by a crap January. Jelavic did have a nice purple patch before the ginge drained the life out of him.

This all makes pretty depressing reading. Still time to go and we haven't done bad business for spending just over £4m. I trust Martinez, he needs our support. It's the board that needs the kick up the backside to help by opening the purse & pushing for a new stadium, love the history of Goodison, but my god its got some appalling seats!
