Worried

I understand some people thinking about an ageing squad etc but honestly, we have nothing to be negative about right now (on the field) . We've just finished the season closer to the top 4 than we have in a while and although in certain games we bottled it, looking back on it we didn't have any right to be fighting against Tottenham and Arsenal with the players they have. I for one am pretty confident, with some fresh new faces and some potentially big names we can push on. We're Everton ffs, we battle through anything.

Replace the three players we lost. New keeper. Centre back. Striker and winger. So 7 players. Won't happen

Moyes had the same if not less of a budget than Martinez last four years. Martinez couldn't even get Wigan out of bottom 15. Just not sure he's the man on our budget. We shall see.

Face facts we are being linked with players that sides don't want. Alcarez for eg available on a free. If he was that good.. He would have been signed by someone now.

I know we all want to look to the future without to much worry, But i think of the future antics of Billy Liar this season trying to tell us 5 mins before mid night on transfer day that selling of Seamus Coleman was the last of 4 out and god help use 3 Wigan rejects in . Iam just pissed of that again we lack that final push and resolve to keep key players.

I'll be worried on August 30th when we've only brought in Alcaraz and Kone, then Baines and Fellaini go late in the night and we end up having the weekend to try and buy 7 players.

Until something big happens then there is no need to worry.

How do you know what his budget is ??? Alcaraz on a free is a no brainer.....Paraguayan international...... Kone is better than what we have at the moment and the jury is out on Mcgeady...he has all the tools to be a very good player..maybe this is the chance he grasps with both hands... I can't be arsed with all this negative crap that is being spouted.

Everton are big enough to have have investment by now. Either we arnt trying or there's something not right. What bk doesn't seem to grasp is that it's not such a big risk for us to spend. If we were bottom half I'd say no. But we are top six its worth the risk to keep our players and spent 20 25m on two top class players. Who I believe would be enough if we kept our squad together to make top four. If you take bale out of spurs we would catch them. That 25m we spent would then be paid back by champs league qualification. But bk doesn't want to take that risk. Now is the time. While we are up there!. And if the risk didn't pay off at least we would still have our
Top players that could be sold if worse situation occurs.

I'd much rather RM wait and make the right buys than rush into some wrong ones. Nothing has gone wrong yet. While you make some fair points about an aging squad and the numbers not adding up, we don't have to make up the numbers by buying players. By all indications, Martinez has indicated a willingness to blood some of our talented youth. Make it happen.

That's fair enough. But is our youth really that good? Stones has potential as does Barkley but the rest I'm not sure? Chris long maybe? No one outstanding. To bring good youth through can take years and the fact is we havnt since rooney. I'd love to see youth given a chance but don't believe it is good enough yet

I think you're the kind of lad who wants Martinez to fail just so you can say "I told you so"..... get behind him and the team... nothing at all has happened for you to feel as you do.

No not at all. Just personally don't think he was the right choice. Based on facts ie his time at Wigan. He has no money if not more than us but didn't deliver anything like Moyes did. He also said he wasn't upto bringing Wigan back into the prem. that worries me in terms of attitude. But like you say wait and see. I think any manager who came to everton was always going to have a job on competing at Moyes level. If united want your manager you know it's going to be hard to find anyone else as good to replace

So who would have been your choice as manager then ?

Kone is not better than what we have at the moment, as anyone who is familiar with his time at Sevilla will explain - if Jelavic gets his brain fixed, and if Anichebe continues to improve, he shouldnt get near the starting XI. Redmond would be a much better signing than MacGeady as well.

As for reinforcements, personally I think aside from one position - up front where we really need to buy someone of real* quality - it would be best to start seeing whether the youth setup is worth all the praise its been getting, and start to bring those players through. This new TV money could set the club up for a generation; its essential that the mistakes of the past - spending money on ****e, living from hand-to-mouth and having to sell etc etc - twenty years arent repeated.

* ie: not Kone
