Worried

Would it help if you could picture the following scene.

Imagine the theme tune from Top Gun, not the Berlin song. The one were Tom and his gay friends prepare for battle, is playing in the background.

Through a door will enter Bill Kenwright and he will say " Don't worry Dave, I will negotiate the hell out of Moyes and Utd"

Do you feel better now?

He'd end up with £11M!

Only in 3 of the past 17 seasons have we had an Everton player get more goals in the league than Kone got for a team like Wigan this season. If he comes in and gives us two seasons of that, and maybe a bit more with better service, then he'd have been worth £5M or whatever of anyone's money regardless of re-sale value. And, apart from his goalscoring, he's obviously someone who Martinez sees as being influential in the way he wants other players brought into the game as an attacking unit.

I can see your point on re-sale and his age, but we have to believe the manager has this right if he gets him.

That bold bit would have more credibility if it wasn't coming from a guy who took every opportunity (and still is doing) to **** off almost everything the last manager did.

I'm worried that we about to lose our three best assets Moyes, Fellaini and Baines. Only one can be sold which will be Fellaini due to his clause, still surprised no one activated it yet, so we have to keep Baines unless Moyes wants to pay over the odds.

Moyes took us from a side battling relegation year in year out to top 7 consistently. With no cash

Martinez took Wigan from a side batting relegation to no higher than 15th and got them relegated. With no cash

Everton = no cash

You do the maths

No Cash. I take the Rooney and Lescott money was just an illusion. Our wage structure was also about twice the size of Wigans (don't quote me). How much did the Yak cost, Bily, Beattie, Johnson, Baines, Distin, Jags etc The latter were cheap in hindsite but Moyes has had money to spend even if it has been via sales or BK getting loans from the banks etc. Wigan is a different story. Had to sell the best players and bring in players on ten bob a week. Just thought you might like to know as you don't seem to see the wood for the trees.

What maths?

15-7=8?

This. Our net spend always seemed so low because we sold well. For every Cahill there was a Kroldrup, for every good striker(and there weren't many) there was a Johnson/Beattie/Yakubu/Jelavic.

If you look at the facts. Last five seasons wigans net spend is more than ours.

One of those 5 seasons was under Steve Bruce and we know what he is like. I am not debating net spend I am debating the players he lost and how much wages he could pay replacements which has a massive bearing on quality brought in. His better players basically ran there contracts down or had proved themselves at a minnow club such as Wigan for pastures anew. Where any wigan players on 50k per week? If you can find his net spend over his 4 seasons at Wigan and wage structure compared to Evertons then maybe we can start drawing comparisons.

We don't have a completely gash defence like Wigan though.

Right.

I'm starting to wonder if some Evertonians have ever been in a transfer window before.

It's all very well getting worried, and having a panic but really there is no need to right now.

What exacty has happened? Nothing. No players in. The only players out were utter tripe.

If someone is telling me that Kone, Alcaraz and McGeady aren't better than Neville, Hitzelsperger and probably Heitinga then OK MATE.

But the fact remains nothing has happened. Not a ball has been kicked.

Look around what teams have actually done business that you are jealous of? Liverpool? nah. Norwich? A striker with a funny name who Sporting Lisbon weren't arsed about losing - nah. Man United?! Nah.

The names we've been linked with, may mean jack. They may mean something. They may feel underwhelming. But I tell you this, Roberto Martinez knows more about football than you.

I say this and mean it. If James McCarthy joins Everton then so be it. Mr Martinez knows more than me.

There was once one boss summer where we bought early. It was lovely. None of this panic.

But it's not the way it works usually.

And this summer has one very big difference. A brand spanking new manager. Yesterday was his first day proper. And yet people seem to be devastated he didn't sign anyone. On Day one. Have a word. He hasn't even got his mates around yet. And going from various media sources a load of the players aren't even back yet. (Wednesday I beleive).

All i'm asking for is a bit of calm.

There may well be time for panic. But that time isn't for now. Let us lose 2-0 at home to West Brom. Or concede a terrible late equaliser against Palace first.

That's when i'll be worried.
