I saw the Ronnie interview the other day and don't know what to make of it at all...
His eyebrows were dancing, like Carlo Ancelotti doing a Denis Healey impression.
I had two very un-PC thoughts, so forgive me.
The first was that Ronnie wasn't well. The second was that it is all an elaborate Ronnie ruse to get himself psychologically up for the two weeks ahead. To me, both are plausible, so I don't want to be overly cynical. The truth? We'll only know when the pressure really comes on him in a match. His reaction then will tell the tale. I expect him to beat Ali Carter handily enough. Whatever about Ronnie - who to me is a lovable rogue and a flawed genius - I distinctly dislike Carter, whose political opinions appear to place him to the right ofthe black Farage. But I do appreciate his ability as a player - and his moxy. He is, otherwise, objectionable. As much as I enjoy the way he rattles Ronnie - far too many players give him far too much respect - Ronnie goes up in my estimation for being contemptuous of the "Captain."

Carter is just so narky all the time, could smirk for England. Meanwhile, Murphy 4-1 up, looks like it's going to 5-1.
You'd imagine Carter will try and make this a real slugfest and try everything to frustrate Ronnie. O Sullivan himself admits he struggles now with the longer matches and keeping his concentration.

5.4 Ronnie at the end of play. Carter won the last 2 frames which he badly needed but on the balance play probably fair. Ronnie has been fairly rusty at times and looked in the last frame as he was happy to get it over.

I got the feeling he was toying with Carter or at least not really trying too hard. Certainly just getting warmed up. Maybe he was lacking focus but I also think sometimes he plays games with people. I think he really wants this 8th title. Everything this year has just been a build up to this.
Just seen the John Higgins interview where he got all emotional. I love John Higgins he’s a great guy and I’d love to see him win the Worlds again.
