Working from home?

Would love to, but sadly operating hefty industrial machinery isn’t compatible with WFH, unless I seriously upgrade the size of my living arrangements

I would worry about the reduction of social interactions though. Saying that, while I’ve made a few really good friends from work, the rest of them are petty nobheads who’d grass you up for taking a minute extra in your break, so I’d probably get over it fairly quickly.

Give it a decade or so, mate.

They're already talking about the possibility of surgeons performing surgery remotely, ie... controlling a robotic arm via a remote connection to handle the procedure! 😮

Before the pandemic we were totally onsite 5 days a weeks. During the pandemic they reluctantly let us WFH and they’d like to row it back now but know they can’t without a revolt so they reluctantly allow it to continue. Albeit with some strict rules.

Only 2 days WFH per week allowed and have to be requested and approved by your manager. My team is not allowed to have closed office doors at any time, so those of us who share offices have to come up with a rota of when we’re on and offsite. We have to agree with each other who is onsite and when. Obviously the creative people who can come up with excuses to WFH on Fridays are the happiest. I’ve been messed around by some workers at my flat, had to spontaneously rearrange a WFH day because of them, and now my boss has the hump with me because our office door will be shut in the morning.

As @Daveysgingerlovechild said, our management also say that WFH stifles creativity and spontaneity. Which I think means those who like the sound of their own voice find it more difficult to talk over people in Teams meetings.

Would prefer an arrangement where I could WFH 3 or 4 days a week and could pick and choose when I go onsite

The main proponent of 'working from work' in my current job (actually my last day today, woot woot) is widely regarded as an over-promoted attention seeking bell end who adds little to the collective endeavour.

Couldn't possibly generalise, like.

I prefer to work in the office, I walk in and go for a swim and sauna before I start to set the day up nicely, most of the people in the office are sound aswell so that helps. I would get depressed sitting in the house all day tbh.
