The main problem is that the officials seem to being conned into thinking contact = foul these days. A foul is only a play that impedes an opponent or dangerous play. Contact is not a foul.

Cant wait for next season where strikers start lashing themselves into opponents, dinking balls onto defenders outstretched arms and doing the VAR signal all over the place.

USA winning is rubbish. The best team of course but ugh, boring.

When the ball comes over your head you are looking at that alone. Morgan went for the ball too and they came together. How much intent was there to how much Morgan knew there would be contact with her actions? If she hit Morgan first then I would say pen, if she had controlled it better and would have been able to get it, also a pen. That was neither for me.

Yeah the problem with VAR is it just comes down to who touches who when. And not anything to do with the context of the game and whether the player was going to have a scoring opportunity. It’s gonna be a train wreck in the PL

The difference being she doesn't have to put her foot up there. She chooses to play the ball high and the consequence is when she hits Morgan who is challenging in a legal manner it's a foul. There isn't much to think about here. Middle of the field no one blinks twice if that's given as a foul. I don't think anyone argues if it isn't VAR either.

I don't think it matters who initiates contact when someone's foot is that high and there is contact it's a foul on the person who's foot is 5 feet off the ground.
