With “fans outside Merseyside” being a common insult to the reds, why are the scouser Everton fans thoughts on international Everton fans?

Many (but by no means all) non-scouse RS fans are just glory hunters. That is not an accusation that could ever be thrown at any non-scouse Evertonians (or indeed non-Geordie Newcastle fans, non-cockney West Ham fans etc.) ergo, many (but by no means all) non-scouse RS fans are utter blurts, all non-scouse blues fans are cultured students of the beautiful game! Simples!

There’s more factors at play.

Firstly the sheer volume of tourists - and that’s what they are, purely tourists not Liverpool fans.

None-local fans of any club is fine as far as I can see, so long as they’re actual fans.

I actually feel sorry for scouse reds at times. The heart and sound has beeen ripped out of their club. It’s a commodity and a cult, not a club.

So I’ve no problem with any clubs fans being from anywhere, as long as they’re true fans.

@Adam-GOTTV - what’s your thoughts?
Nail on head. All the rs 'supporters ' I know in Sheffield admit they're not really fussed but they're happy when they win. That's not what being a football supporter is. It's 99% pain with the occasional fleeting moment of happiness (Oh sorry that's being an Evertonian)

Nothing but admiration for those Everton fans who are from outside the city, it certainly doesn't peg you as any kind of glory hunter, for obvious reasons.

What I would say though, is that if you're not from the city, there's possibly an element that you can't really appreciate. When you grow up in this city, you realise that football is what makes the whole place tick. You spend years at school having to front the adorable reds every day, fighting your corner. You leave school, get a job and it's the same thing. Football is the hearbeat of the city and it's difficult to explain quite how much it means to outsiders. I lived down south for a few years and I was continually bemused at how much less football seemed to matter - culturally it's just less important. I'm not saying it's not important at all, but the level of obsession is certainly not the same. So, whilst I tip my hat to those blues who follow us from afar, I do wonder if it means the same to them as it does to those of us who were brought up here. That's not meant as any kind of insult, I just struggle to comprehend how it could do when you're not immersed in it as part of your life.

It's about glory seeking rather than woolness. Liverpool have been the hyped media darlings over the years nd so get loads of sad gets from the world over latching onto them. That is what we're really skitting about wools not necessarily the fact they are wools. They see who the most successful team are, and say I'll support them thinking that it makes them unskittable if they support a successful team. When in fact, that is why we skit them.

I'm born scouse, but have lived in East Midland, Kent and currently Greater Manchester. I am therefore an "outsider" going to the game but with insider knowledge.

The picture that shows why their outsiders are different to ours, is the number of mobile phones recording the match, whilst ours are all about watching the match.

Nowt to do with the origin of the attendee, more to do with the engagement.

To this day I made more than 8 thousand miles to watch our Blues play. Evertonians I met are always amazed how can a guy from Poland supports Everton.

And I was truly chosen I think - in a year 2004 my dad installed a satellite in our home and I finally got an access to watch the Premier League. The first game I’ve seen was Southampton at Goodison when Rooney scored a brace. The rest is history.

Hopefully in time you'll be able to forgive your dad, he wasn't to know how this would turn out so don't be too harsh on him.

We have to have international fans - there's no choice, as it's the only way to be a modern, competitive PL club now - the league is a 'franchise-style', popularity driven money making machine. However, what we can do is show some authenticity of style and approach, and funnily enough, international fans will be attracted to the idea of a local, authentic club which is punching above its weight.

I met a guy from Texas the other day, who supported Everton for a totally random reason. In 'soccer' in school one competition they all drew EPL teams to use as their team names, and he got Everton. He looked into the club and the player names etc, and he just liked the players, the manager (This was during the Moyes-Martinex years 2012/13) and just liked us, and now he's a really serious fan and says 'we' and 'us' and has never even been to England.

There's something about a story and an authenticity and even though we will also have dodgy billiionaire money coming to us like all other clubs, we can make ourselves look like a club from the city and the unlucky plucky neighbours trying to catch up with Man U , Man City and Liverpool and we should definitely embrace international fans.

If you’re not born locally
or inherited a blue indoctrination,
I worry for the sanity of any Everton fan...,

saw this in New York a while back. Now this is a true fan regardless of where he comes from!

I see far more people wearing Liverpool colours than Everton gear here in Melbourne, but I don't think many of them actually know who or what they are supporting.

I have about six Everton polos and two jackets which I wear quite often. When I see Reds and I have blue on I make a point of getting close to them, but
I never get a reaction. You'd expect a bit of banter, but it never happens. On the other hand, I've been served in shops twice recently by people who've
talked to me about Everton, and I know two people who have no real passion for the premier league, but follow Everton.

I know someone who supports Liverpool, but doesn't really like football. Doesn't watch them on tv, but hates Everton and gets angry if I criticise them.

It's hard to gauge the level of support, but Everton came here in 2010 and there were a lot of people in the crowd wearing Everton gear. I mean a real lot.

So, I think there are a lot of international Everton supporters, but they're not as 'visible' as those of Sky six. We many not have as many, but ours are a
much better quality.

Edit. Maybe not Spurs

As a WOOL I do sometimes feel like I'm considered somewhat of a lesser fan in comparison to the Scouse Evertonians

It's something I'll have to deal with more the more successful Everton get I fear
Mikey, never ever feel that way, if you follow Everton you are definitely as good as any of us, no matter where you come from. I live five minutes away from Goodison Park, so often feel fans of Everton who travel some distance to get to home games are better supporters than me.
