You really can't go wrong with Sainsbury's wine range, all excellent examples of the grape or style, all well priced, and they do some real oddities such as this one right here:

So this is a bone dry Hungarian Furmint, similar to a savi but even more flinty. The grape is more commonly left to rot a little on the vine and used to make Tokaj, a very different sweet wine.

Not a fan of sweet wine, but agree they (sainsburys) do seem to have a decent range.

I'm currently supping one of my laithwaites/Sunday Times favourites. A big bold Portuguese called Vinha do Fava. Some absolute belting Portuguese reds at the moment, mainly the castelao grape variety. Some touching 15 percent, but smooth as anything.

Nice, will keep an eye out for those. No, generally I like very dry whites (which that one is, its just the grape is used differently), but I do enjoy a Tokaj with a good dessert, bit of cheesecake, yum.

They have a lovely little corner outlet outside on the street where they serve glasses of wine and cheese and ham . I usually stop in with a mate or two walking home

If you do not mind me asking, what is your workshop/trade, mate?
 
Haven’t come across that one, will keep an eye out - attractive label.
If you're anything like New Zealand, it might go straight to export while you keep the really good gear. When we chatted wine over there and gave examples of kiwi's we drank, the common response was 'bloody hell, didn't know we still made that!'
You've probably got far better stuff that never leaves the state.
