Previously on here, there's been talk of him being somewhat prone to ambling around, letting play go past him and not challenging for the ball.

To be fair, I've seen a few occasions today when this type of judgement is justified as he certainly doesn't appear to exert or impose himself.

I’d rather have 10 outfield players with their own legs. We saw how much Rooney struggled in midfield without the legs to get about the pitch. Plus, it’s not like he’s Alonso with his passing range is it.

If players judged Messi based on his international performances you would not think he was anywhere near the talent he is.

Judge a player on club performances as international games can be deceiving- some players tend to either be really good in club competitions or vice versa and have a good scoring rate for the national team for example but poor for their club.

Yeah,and some seem to forget they may get really specific tasks in the international games which may differ quite a lot from the club games
