Will we ever see the end of 4-2-3-1?

Yeah I was just about to put this myself we would have balance in the midfield the front 3 have pace power intelligence that would be are best 11 problem is there never fit haha
I hope that regardless of what Silva wants, Brands is building the team to play a shape in midfield that is better than what we are playing now. If we need a new manager to make it work so be it.

Problem is it stops digne getting forward if he has Bernard and iwobi ahead
Yeah, I don’t know what to do with that left side. I’d hate to see Bernard go, maybe the best thing to keep our fullbacks in a similar style, but modifying a front line, could be a 3-5-2?

I genuinely don't know what out best team is with the players we have, and I'm not sure Silva does either. Squad is really unbalanced to me.

Play any formation you like if players are going to be slow on the ball mixed in with knowone moving/making runs it'll still be boring side to side slowness

3-4-3 is out the question as if we lost one of our CB we would have to change formation as we are threadbare there in the squad. 4-3-3 could be an option but would mean no place for Sigurdsson and I'm not his greatest fan but his goals would be a loss. Maybe a diamond formation migtt work with Richarlison partnering either Kean or DCL. 4-2-3-1 is best fit for most our players but when neither of the striking options is likely to get many goals it means winning games is difficult. For me at the minute both DCL and Kean are realistically bench options.

Until we can field a box to box MF then we're stuck with 4231 imo. Guess that's prob why we bid for Doucoure and might have seen a MF 3 of him, Gomes and Gbamin. Would like to see Iwobi tried at no. 10 for the cup game, with Bernard and Richy on the wings and Kean up top, I think Iwobi could do well there.

Adjustments made in desperation don’t quite equate a change in his overall approach, do they mate

lol "Adjustments made in desperation" as if it's some sort of technical term.

The most significant thing about yesterday was the removal of Sigurdsson and the switch away from "4-2-3-1".

And that's before we even get into the pointless naming of formations: we clearly change shape throughout the game, and you can see this in Sigurdsson's average position.
