I always say that no-one cares about your house more than you do. I do every job in my house apart from gas.
Just been arguing with my plum of a neighbour about the sparrowhawk that was just seen devouring a pigeon.
I wondered at first if it was a Peregrine but they insisted it was far too big, so it must have been a Sparrowhawk. I tried to say that Peregrines are actually bigger than Sparrow hawks but he wasn't having it.
It was a Sparrowhawk (the wings were too short to be a PF), but it moved on from that into which is bigger. So I came on here to make myself feel better (or worse if I'm actually wrong).

Now now, calm down mate. I would say that a fully grown sparrowhawk might be bigger but I’ve never seen a PF in the wild. @COYBL25 will probably know best
Actually a quick google reveals that you’re right. Now put your neighbours windows out with bricks.

Also Peregrines don’t usually take their prey onto the ground like a Sparrowhawk, preferring to take it onto a high ledge on a cliff or building.

So I was doubly right. Feels good
Ive been noticing tracks in my grass every morning when I wake up, then this morning I noticed the grass was really badly flattened in 1 area. When I went out to look i also found a half eaten apple. I would love to set a camera up to record what is going on. I have a nikon d3500 what would I need to do to record it. I can't leave lights on so any help would be great. Cheers
If you’re in a semi rural area it could well be Badgers mate ?
They become really active around dusk, so if you sit off somewhere with a view of the garden around dusk you may see one.
Make sure you’re upwind if you’re outside, as they won’t show if they get a sniff of you !
I visit a sett near me often in the summer and if you position yourself downwind they will walk right up to you. Incredible creatures
I stayed in an isolated cottage in the Kentmare Valley, n the Lakes a few a years back and they used to come into the garden every night.
Magical to watch as they grubbed about looking for worms.
Aye they’ll eat anything.
I came across a load of young ones playing in the middle of the day once. Could hear them squeaking in some long grass and didn’t have a clue what they were at first. Must have watched them for 20 mins or so. @lesbattersby if it is badgers they will likely have a latrine hole nearby. You er can’t miss it.
No not rural, i was thinking maybe a hedgehog. Shes shouting I think its a rat, I dont think it is but I'd love to record it to see
