Why can't we beat the ****e at Anfield?

A lot of people would have you believe we were already getting overrun by them at that point, when we actually looked okay. That pass changed everything.

At the time they looked much more likely to score than we did. They probably would have scored that match, whether or not we could have got it to pens (where Reina excels) I don't know.

Reina wasn't playing though.

I can understand you forgetting this though as we only saw their keeper once.

Yep I reckon we were pretty much evens at the point, possibly not quite in the ascendancy but had certainly weathered the storm.

It certainly changed a lot, but I felt the real change was at half time. They came out fighting and we didn't seem prepared for it. We sat too deep, which stretched the game (The Wembley pitch is quite big as well), and with our lack of athleticism in midfield, it mean't hitting long balls to the forwards, meaning we didn't really have that much meaningful possession to take the pressure off.

One of the main reasons why I think our record is so bad against the rs during Moyes' reign, is they tend to have a very mobile midfield (led by stevie me) and we don't. They always tend to do fairly well when they play against midfields that they can physically boss. They can turn defence in to attack fairly quickly, and still get back, whereas our midfield is much more pedestrian. A mobile midfield is able to continually re-adjust its position and often in derbies you can look at the game and find yourself counting if they have more players than us. Or is that just me? I felt it was a similar story against Wigan. Whoever the manager is at Everton next season, I hope he addresses the midfield area with this regard.

As far as the midfield goes, i think that's exactly what Fer was for and Moyes was pissed when the rug was pulled from under him regarding that deal.

You're right though, when you look at our team on paper there isn't a lot of dynamism in our midfield. Gibson is boss at what he does but he's not the kind of player to take the ball and make a driving run. We need somebody in midfield who is like Coleman in that regard, where he'll pick the ball up and look to run with it instead of passing.

No mate. I refuse to accept that, they are a poor side, with some mediocre players and some really potentially outstanding players, one single world class player.

We have two world class players, a handful of outstanding players and have the ability to play off the pitch the richest side in the world.

We SHOULD be beating them, instead it's in the head.

Im quite sure, if we had some of there "mediocer" players, we would be rating them at stupid price, like we have been known too.

Truth is, if the RS had appointed the right manager 5 / 10 years ago, they would have won atleast 1 league title.

Agreed, I think that also works defensively. Because we lack this kind of player we have to work hard to advance up the pitch, and if it breaks down and you have Osman and Pienaar the wrong side of the ball and you have a Gerrard or someone breaking for them, we don’t have a hope of getting back goal side and providing cover for the defence. So you leave yourself a little exposed defensively if you over commit too many players. I think Everton have lost a lot of goals like this at home, especially against sides that have sat back against us. As soon as you get Jags, Distin or Gibson pushing too far, if it breaks down we’re very vulnerable. A bit like Stoke were last weekend. Mirallas certainly breaks the mould of a 21st Century Everton player, and gives us an added option going forward. I’ve not seen Fer play live to be honest (he’s boss on Fifa though) but if he is the big, strong midfielder who can cover that ground and get back etc. when people are committed, then he may well be the answer. Such a shame it fell through for whatever reason.

Everton have a lot of technically gifted players, but not many physically gifted. I think the best sides tend to have players who are both, which is why I think if you are setting up a side on an inferior budget to them, then you can’t really try to play them at their own technical, possession game. We need to have a mix, and much more pace. I’d have much rather seen Everton use the money involved in Pienaar’s deal to bring in a more dynamic player.

Oh god was that after that miss pass to Suarez?

Poor Sylvain.

Yeah. Swansea got gifted a lead in semi final and a tie against lower league oppostion to win a cup.

We got gifted a lead in a semi final and numerous ties against lower league oppostion yet failed miserably to win a cup.

Swansea didn't let Chelsea back into the game by gifting them an equaliser. They also didn't **** their pants and play so awful Chelsea couldn't help but go on to win when the game was level. Or **** their pants and play awful when faces with lower league oppositon when they had a good chance to win a cup.

But you know, they got lucky and so did we. They didn't waste that luck though.

Oh, um witty pic or soemthing :

As usual death says everything I think. Even the bit about enjoying naked men.

I was a bit wary of replying cause anyone seriously trying to defend Moyes not winning a cup despite having plenty of luck in cup competitions by saying Swansea only won a cup by being lucky are badly damon-lite, but i did anyway.

'Plenty of luck in cup competitions'

Examples please. If there's plenty it should be easy. I want at least four. I'm fairly sure none will be at the level of your opponents giving the ball away twice in terrible positions to give you two easy goals, followed by one of their best players getting sent off in the second leg.

It's defo Moyes fault that Distin played a crap back pass like. If only he'd said 'Dont do a crap backpass' to him at half time.

CRAP MANAGER.
