Ok. Personally I like Barça's style of play. I also enjoyed watching the Utd treble winning side in 99, Arsenal with Henry, France with Platini and co, Sacchi's Milan. I didn't enjoy watching Blackburn in 95 and don't see anything as a team to particularly enjoy about the current CL winners. Although Milito's goals last night were both superb. But they're just opinions. I can also see the point about were such a dominant team as Barça become boring to watch. Not in my case because of the style of play but rather due to the sense of inevitability (usually). I once read a similar appraisal of Don Bradman. A glorious stroke player and a fabulously quick scorer, He was a joy to watch. But there was so little sense of vunerability, it took a little pleasure out of the contest. I can understand how that same vunerability, along with their exquisite football when in possession, was what made the Brazilian and French teams in the 1982 world cup so exciting to watch. Again that's all opinions and it's all debatable as far as on-field performance is concerned. As for the off field antics, media hype etc. Real Madrid are the number one imo. But let's face it, no club is squeaky clean in that respect.
I often hear people say they hate football. it's always on tv, in the news. Their spouse is always putting it first. They make too much money blah, blah, blah. All valid points (again in my opinion). There is too much coverage, they do make too much money and we probably should give a little more time to our families. But in the end it's not football they hate. It's the hype, the dirt and the time it consumes. I hate Real Madrid and can't stand Valencia. But it's nothing to do with what I've seen on the pitch. It's the all consuming love fest you get here from the national media, or in the case of Valencia, the regional media.
