Who's nailed on for a starting place next season?

Pickford.

That's it.

There should be no more automatic slots, I only include Pickford because there is no way we are splurging big on a keeper given the state of the rest of the squad.

I get the shouts for Coleman, but his form (not his commitment - that is never in question) doesn't warrant an automatic pick.

If Brands/Silva only do one thing it should be to get rid of the cosy culture that has been around this club where certain players get picked on sentiment and not form. We've had it for a decade at least now, they should be worried about their places in the squad let alone the team.

No automatic starting places.

Pickford and Coleman.

The Sigurdsson shout is baffling. Even moreso than Jagielka. He has a LOT to prove, as he was next to useless last season and given the price tag was probably the flop signing of the season.

Klaassen is definitely more worthy of flop of the season

I’d be disappointed to start next season with Tosun leading he line. We need a 15+ goal man and that isn’t him in my opinion. We were spoilt with Lukaku’s ability but loads of people wanted him to run a bit more

I think one of the few bright spots that is club actually has is good depth at striker for the 1st time since I've been watching everton. Tosun, Niasse, and a more experienced DCL. Sure they aren't as good as Rom. However they all have different styles and they all aren't playing in the summer so they should be fresh to start the season.

Different styles meaning all not good enough. People mentioning his strike rate last season must forget how poor he actually was - can’t even control a ball. DCL needs to go out on loan to get regular football. No top club in the league goes through a season without a recognised striker they think can bag 20+. We need to ensure we’re in the same ballpark as a priority IMO

Keeper - right back - one winger - defensive midfielder - struggling after that- hard to judge our strikers as they have had little service with hoof ball and sideways passing!

Pickford, Coleman, Tosun. I think that it'll have to be quite competitive for everyone else. I honestly have doubts about whether or not even the likes of Gana and Sigurdsson are going to thrive in Silva's system, there are pretty much no guarantees.

I hope by the time we get to the start of the season no one is `nailed on` to be starting and we are looking at a big squad all vying for those starting berths. Competition for places to bring the best out of each other as a squad.........

Jordan Pickford. That is all.

The rest depend on Silva's style and plans for our squad. Even then, nobody covered themselves in glory last season. I'll forgive Coleman due to injury.

But at the moment we aren’t a top club. We got incredibly lucky to have lukaku but even he didn’t get to 20 this season for the team that finished second. Most seasons have between 2-4 players who score 20 goals. The clamours for a 20+ goal striker by some on here are ludicrous because there’s very few who can actually do it. Just go back and look at each season and see who has managed it and who they play for. In the last 10 seasons, 21 separate players have got over 20 goals. All but 3 have been from the “sky 6” and they were lukaku, vardy and Darren bent.

Tosun will likely be a 15 goal a season striker. He had 5 from 12 starts for one of the least creative teams in the league after moving to this league from a much worse league. Carry that over a whole season and he will get 15. That is enough until we can attract those magical 20+ strikers.

Niasse has an incredible minutes to goal ratio. I don’t care if he cant control it, he puts the ball in the net and does it well. And DCL is improving and is still very young. Walcott can also play there. We have options who can provide very different styles for the manager.
