Doesn't really matter Jagielka just wore the armband and called the toss, you could get the toffeelady to call heads or tails, for all the good he did.

If Naismith was playing every week, him.

I would give it to McCarthy in the hope that it would benefit him.

I rate McCarthy but I always felt that he needs to have a bigger personality on the pitch, maybe this would encourage him to take command.

McCarthy would benefit massively from being made Captain. It will make him raise his game. I remember hearing Howard Kendall talk about giving Speed the Captaincy as he believed it would boost his game the most. Same applies here some players thrive on being Captain.

Actually, leaving his current firm to one side, I think Tim is a good candidate for captain.

He is much more "in yer face" than Jags is and won't be bullied by opposition snides.

It was Tim who got stuck into Cup of Coffee last season when the latter started goading Seamus after he scored an own goal and Jags just stood there.

Whoa, steady on there Tiger... as a certain Mr.McEnroe used to say, "you cannot be serious?"
You can't 'reward' a player in shocking form with the captaincy in my opinion.

Well, Block.....it is not a question of "rewarding" people.

Goodness knows, Jags has had bad patches of form and has kept the armband......as indeed he should.

TBH I think captaincy is more than merely about form.

Phil Neville was a decent enough skipper for years whilst being pants most the time :(
