Barry is suspended.

It should be McCarthy.

McCarthy for me as well. He is a real leader on the pitch. I think he is getting a bit lost at the moment. I would like to see him make the Defensive midfield spot his own as he did for Ireland against Germany.

McCarthy should be nowhere near the armband.

I'd give it to Barry, but as he isn't playing I'd give it to Seamus perhaps. Think he'd enjoy having the armband tbh.

Brian Labone was 17 in 1958 on début made captain 1964- I think giving it to Stones would be ok as did you see the glares he gave TH after those two goals - If he was captain He could have a right go at him!

The other day in the CL game Porto gave the captaincy to their homegrown 18 year old centre mid

He's the obvious choice. Martinez has worked with him for 6 years and must surely reward his input for him with the armband. With Barry, Howard and Jagielka out the way I'm struggling to come up with a realistic alternative.

What it does show us is the worrying lack of leadership we currently have. Arsenal kicked us off the park on Saturday. I really worry about what Allardyce's team will do on Saturday.

I have hopes that Funes Mori might step up on this issue. With Jagielka off the pitch I hope he can seize the mantle of leading that back four.

Well yes so do I but it's a lot to ask. I think it's commendable how he has stepped into the breach. He's a 23 year old lad playing in a foreign league though and there is a lot of pressure on him.

I think over the coming weeks we may need players like Mirallas/Gibson to come back into the fold and really step up. Osman is past it.

I think this lad will do OK. Forced or not, we're building a neat young defence..........

I think that Jag being out might be a blessing in disguise. Funes Mori is much better in the air and is no slowcoach.

I go with mcCarthy as captain as there really no other candidates. And he at least gets stuck in and can show a bit of mongrel.

I expect it will be Barry.
Jags hasn't died and will be around the club everyday. I think Barry is already one of the leaders anyway and will probably wear the armband for the few weeks Jagielka is out.

It does raise a bigger question though about who could be captain after Jags.
I think a good team should have about five captains(leaders) in it and I am not sure we do .
That is partially down to having a lot of young players in the team, but for me it is a small concern.
