Who should replace Frank Lampard?

The fool on the hill

The players and staff are working very hard with order and discipline

Yet there are thousands sitting round the pitch, contributing a relatively small amount of funding yes, and some positive support, but also in some ways doing little to add value and in some cases actively pulling the club down - I’m not the first to observe that

The fans play a key role in setting the short termist culture - singling out and blaming manager after manager, rather than seeing their own lack of resilience as a key part of the problem

There is much room for improvement in the fanbase, but requires some to start taking responsibility for that - you could be one to help lead the change?
The players don't work hard enough though. Thats a major problem at this club.

There is a video doing the rounds from boxing day where our players were outpaced by the referee on a counter attack

It was the fans that kept us up last season ffs
A two sided thing I’d say - played a big part in creating the toxic culture that drove out Benitez (as they didn’t like that he’d been a red), which fed through to the on pitch mentality. Lampard then had the job of trying to restore confidence in a team whose confidence was shot

Fans got behind Frank then as a welcome contrast to Benitez and actually then provided some very welcome support in the must win games towards the end of the season

That showed the power of positivity - much more of which will help the team

If the manager can send the players out with a cohesive plan

And/or the players have the ability/contrition to put it together

Then there's no toxic atmosphere. It's easy to put the cart before the horse

Unmitigated nonsense. Proper sick to death of hearing this utter garbage.

Our fans - especially away - have been some of the most consistently positively vocal in the league for some years and here’s where it’s gotten us. Now some dare to voice their totally justified opinions at the momentous heaps of garbage served up to them week after week and it’s their fault all of a sudden?!

The fans being disgruntled isn’t going to materially change overnight. The squad of players being largely crap is also going to take a while to change. The only thing we can hope to do that could have a meaningful effect in the short term is replace a nice, but ultimately out of his depth manager. Will changing the manager solve the myriad issues at board level at the club? No. Should it be done anyway? Yes.

My concern is that losing away to City is unlikely to be the straw that breaks this particular camel’s back, so we’ll be into Jan before Frank gets his marching orders. That’ll mean another mishmash of a window and off we go again.

But it was to do with Rafael being a red wasn’t it?

I don’t think people quite understand as yet how such a thing can permeate a whole organisation’s culture

Confidence is so important in football

The decline was pretty extreme and unusual

This sums it up - saying the squad of players is ‘largely crap’ - it’s laughably extreme

That’s just not the case but sums up the mentality that then permeates the culture

Stop mate please.
You are goin to end up like King Lear

I think he’ll be gone after United away in cup if we don’t beat Brighton. The Man U game will be a free hit. There’s a 8 day gap till we play Southampton which would give us time to get a replacement in.

I'm not convinced it's a lack of hard work or effort.

I just think we have far too many players who are not good enough, or who may be good enough generally but all have the same flaws (an inability to attack, use the ball correctly etc). You can get away with one or two like that who offer other things for the team but all our players seem to struggle with the same issues.

Maybe I’m right??

Wouldn’t be the first time
If the fans can see a system and the players clearly believe in it, a bit like early brown shoes before it properly clicked.

The fans will get behind thick and thin. What we get served up atm is just abject failure , players that are millionaire losers, a manager that has no system, philosophy or tactics. Very little experience and is currently using the full book of excuses every week, he has also now convinced you like himself that the fans are a problem. After last year stating they couldn't have done it without the fans. It's complete rubbish.

Hes kicking the can already.
