Who’s your favourite bass player?

Following on from the drummers thread, looking at the other half of the rhythm section, who are your favourite bassists?
Personally..

John Paul Jones - could develop such a great groove, a drummers dream

Nate Mendell - so tight keeping things together between thrashy guitars and extrovert drumming

David Hood - Muscle Shoals session man, on hundreds of recordings, so solid and consistent

Mark King - Quite unique for his time, brought a bit of slap into mainstream

Garry Tallent - another solid player, a machine of a rhythm section with Weinberg

The Cure wouldn't be half the band they are without Simon Gallup, especially the early albums.
