Yeah but it was about 5 years ago. It speaks volumes about us as a club really.

“Eh laaaa do you remember that time Jags did that fkn boss screamer to earn us a famous 1-1 draw at Anfield?”

“‘Kinell Robbie, I do mate, I do indeed. Av got tears in me eyes ere kid!!!”

Indeed.

As someone else said in reply, it is such a big deal because we have had bugger all to shout about since

The Andy King goal versus them in 1978 is another examole of a very rare bright moment in a dismal era which was celebrated beyond its actual significance in the greater scheme of things.

Dan Gosling as well :(

As you say, this disproportionate celebration and reverence of mundane goals is more a reflection on the hopeless underachievement of our club than the passion of the fans.

I agree with what most say on here, Jags was the better footballer and in his prime was a superb center half. Neville though had a bit more snide about him, super vocal, always whingeing at the ref etc. and was an OK full-back. His biggest problem was that Moyes insisted on playing him as a midfielder. Moyseys biggest failing was his insistence on shoehorning decent players into positions that made the look rubbish. I still shudder remembering when he would play Jags as a right back :(

Jags, for all his qualities is not the kind of captain we need. Leading by example is only effective when the guys you are showing an example to actually care that they are playing like cowards, many of our lot dont seem to care and Jags or Baines say nothing! Neville would at least have called them out for it and given them a severe pointing at!

Jags has had some great seasons while Neville had about 3 decent games in his whole everton career
anyone can shout and point fingers but if you can't back that up with actual footballing ability who listens

That was the last kick of the game wasn't it? What a strike!
