Which ex-Everton player would you choose?

Kanchelskis would be exciting in this current side, well any side I guess.

Most of the names mentioned are utter legends however, Nev is the stand out one to walk into and improve the current side.. But I tell you what.. Lineker would have a field day with Ross and Del passing to him to run at pace and slot easy chances.

No good if Timmy was letting in at the other end though!

Heart says Bracewell but head is so William Dean.
Greatest Evertonian and he would force John Terry to immediately retire.
Would have been an honour to see him play and the only player we have with comparable records to genuine world greats.

He was the best player in the modern era to see, don't underestimate the stories about him, Mr Perpetual motion - Timmy Howard's ears would be so sore too with the rollickings he would have gave him!
My arl fella says the same.
My grandad couldn't talk enough about how good Dixie was too..

*heads off to the Kone thread.

I can only imagine
I can only imagine
Bally was a awful beast of a Captain - made enemies- told one player in training in front of all the team how is it you can trap the ball further than I can kick it!
He was a perfectionist of a player, never captain or manager material, but what a player cried if he lost a game of tiddlywinks!lol
Hate to think if he was passing comments on all the leads we have give up this season!lol

To improve our team now...Neville Southall. But to see Alan 'the greatest of them all' Ball would be unbelievable. My dad used to go on and on about him, even during the great mid 80s era, my dad said ball would make this team so much better.

A hypothetical one here and clearly it is very subjective, but a little question fobyr you all to consider on this wet and miserable Wednesday.

We all to different extents have questions and concerns about our current status, some being overly critical while others being more cautious.

However, if you could choose one ex-Everton player to come straight into our starting XI who would it be? And importantly why?

Obviously there'll be questions of the rigours of the modern game, so let's just pretend that they will be able to automatically adapt.

There are countless players to chose from across numerous generations from the likes of Dean, Labone, Young, Lineker et al.

Thus who do you think would make the biggest impact? What position do you think needs bolstering with an Everton legend?

Personally, I've gone for Neville 'The Bin Man' Southall as our first choice keeper to replace Howard and mentor Robles.

Defensively there are lots of concerns between the fans, so I think a player of his amazing ability between the sticks would bolster the squad.

Offensively we're quite strong and I'm confident that our defence isn't too bad in itself, therefore Nev would just underpin all this.

Big Nev is the obvious choice. He would definitely be my first choice. Being a gentleman of a certain age my second choicewould be Alan Ball, great first touch, great vision and great decision making. He wasn't the quickest but his reading of the game gave him the time he needed. He didn't take a backward step, can you imagine Mirellas trying to take the ball away from him to take that penalty.
