Which ex-Everton player would you choose?

Okay I'm going for Reid then because the fans would hate him but he wouldn't care, he'd just get on with it and we'd have won the league while the thread about him being useless reached 1000 pages.
You certainly wouldn't have the moans and groans regarding teams 'bypassing our midfield' and lack of fight with Reid on the pitch.

IMO our most pressing need is for a top class stopper centre half who can organise the defence at set pieces (seeing as the manager can't :() and lead the team on the pitch.

Brian Labone or Dave Watson.

I bet McCarthy wouldn't have dared allow Rondon the freedom of the penalty box last Saturday happen one of those boys was skippering the side.

I watched the great Labby , and boy did he organise the defence in play never mind a corner - he always stated he looked after Westy as the big Bruisers like Jack charlton targeted him on corners, what a class act he was!

The OP has nailed his own thread in one. A commanding goalie like Southall in his prime would work wonders for the confidence in this team. The defence would be more organised and confident. My only concern is we'd still be lacking a mid pitch leader. Therefore, I'll change my mind and go for Neville Peter Alan Gray.

Of players I've seen play:

Southall

Excluding Nev then the best 3 I've seen would be Beardsley, Kanchelskis and Rooney. Any of those 3 would be excellent in this team.
