Not that I'm one to name drop, but I once got the autograph of Chester goalkeeper Grenville Millington when he visited our school in the mid seventies. No football was played mind. You're impressed, I can tell.

I saved a penalty taken by Bobby Charlton whilst I was at his Soccer School in Manchester.

On a side note: I attended our famous 3-0 win at OT during the same week, and when I celebrated the win (sitting 3 seats from Bobby) some delightful Utd fans started spitting at me. Classy!

Alex Parker was a family friend - so no football etc etc - but he did make us a coffin for our dog (he was a carpenter).

Played against Alex Parker in a cup game in Runcorn in the '70s I think - he was playing for Guinness and marshalling the play. I think he was managing a pub in Shopping City at the time.

Around 2000, I was at Uni in Sheffield and playing for a Sunday League team in Dronfield. I can’t remember the team we were playing but I was directly up against Pat Heard, who made handful of appearances for us in in the late 70’s before going to Villa. I have to be honest, he wasn’t very good.

Anyone else here played against any ex-Blues?
Played against Ian Atkins, who was then manager of Northampton. Talked me through his debut goal. Nice guy.

Tim Howard. I went to a high school in New Jersey where Tim's school was our bitter rival. Think red****e level of hatred. Those were the best matches of our season, as I only played one against Tim since he was three years older and about to graduate. He was tough to beat and was a bit of a dirty player back then, but I love the guy now.

Went through primary school in the same class and played in two teams with ...

The fathead making headlines atm plays for united? Chelsea? No one can be sure

In his book he includes a shot of the Copplehouse boys the year we as in Everton won the FA Cup...I'm in the shot ...second tallest with the blonde mophead who looks like he's asleep

What a s***e claim to fame :-( wish I coulda played with a real blue

Played against Jags when he was at Sheff Utd in a pre season friendly for Truro City, had to mark Peter Ndlovu, when I say marked, I mean I chased him for 90 minutes, lost 1-5.

My uncle has known/played with a few of the players down the years. When i was about 4, Kevin Ratcliffe gave us a ride home in his car, I had no idea who he was :( I also once threw a ball back to Robert Warzycha when i was sitting in the gwladys...does that count?

Best player I ever came up against was a lad called Lee Molyenuex, anybody remember him? How he never made it at a higher standard is an absolute shame. Started going out with Van Der Meyde, slipped down the leagues and ended up going to prison for GBH whilst at Rochdale.

Came out and moved to Accy Stanley and got a move to Crewe in the summer, but **** me he was stupidly talented. I expect him to be back near the top level at some point, and it really will be a riches to rags and back story. Surprised more hasn't been made of it really.
