I think all of us gave Everton an A or A- for the transfer window this summer so I'm not going to knock Bob for the players he brought in. However, it didn't work. We are a team stuck with a bunch of vets on high wages. How about just to start, let's not blow everything on the olds and keep the transfers for players under 27-28. And pray that Rom still wants to stay with us because their will be suitors in Europe for him.

Get your heads around this statistic/fact. Since we last won a trophy Everton Football Club has spent £270m thats two hundred and seventy million pounds. Thats more than any other Club in Europe without winning a trophy in that time.

I'm hurting. I've been at work and didn't get to check the score until it was finished. Absolutely sick.

Do we know the value of the players we sold? What is the source of the stat?

Just add up what we have spent since 95 and its just over £270m, it was on the Radio earlier the fact that nobody else has spent that much and won nothing. It makes no difference what has been received in transfer money thats all about book balancing.

Yes, but if you sell £300-350m (or whatever it is) doesn't that rather affect the level of expectation?

Needing to move 8-9 squad players along. Next season is going to be interesting.
I agree but it is difficult to see Martinez doing that. He was a yes man to Peg leg Whelan at Wigan and he's a yes man to blue Bill now. In short, Martinez is a sycophant and a snake oil salesman. But his job is safe unless he gets relegated. If things don't improve early next season, Goodison needs to evacuate...it will be the only thing to make useless kenwright do something about the Catalan clown.

Rebuilding has to start Sunday. Get a win and look to finish the campaign with at least 12 wins (I know it's really that bad).

Martinez now has to man up and drop Howard for good - it's a disgrace that he's been in the past few weeks - he actually played well tonight but we've conceded an insane amount with him in the team. He also needs to look to blood the younger players e.g. Browning, who is miles better than Alcaraz or Distin.

In the summer Mirallas will leave - i'd love him to stay but he's already out of the door and if we can at ;east flog him abroad then that's fine with me he's done alright has Kev. Alcaraz, Distin, Howard, Koné, Pienaar, McGeady all need to go and offer very little. Barry as well if a decent offer comes in but if not keep him albeit at a much reduced role. Try and keep hold of Coleman but if a big offer comes in he'll be gone - fear the same could happen with Rom.

Martinez needs to get the business done early. We're going to be shopping 3rd tier again now - no chance of Yarmolenko signing :( - he'll be at Citeh or the Sh1te. Players like Bolasie and Austin who are direct are just what we need. If we can get a decent playmaker in that would do wonders as well. Main thing is the defence and a new keeper. For me he has until the first few weeks of next season to prove he can change it (if we definitely stay up, which I think we will) - if it's the same story, then he has to go.

Our problems are so glaringly obvious but he's clearly too arrogant to change what needs to be changed.
I'm not necessarily sure that he's too arrogant to make changes rather than he just doesn't know how.

I have to say, I never got that thinking at all. The squad is old, slow and unbalanced.

I'd be more inclined to give Martinez another season if I had any faith in his ability to overhaul the squad, but I don't.

Howard, Barry and Naismith will all still be starting every week come August.

Martinez is a snake oil salesman...and Everton bought his product ....... "I'll get you CL fooball"...lol lol lol lol lol lol

I really didn't give 2 @#$%s about CL football. Yes it would have been nice but all I really wanted was a good run in UEFA. We had a good shot to do it and looked lost against a side we had for large stretches dominated just 2 weeks ago.
