I'm not a huge fan of him but for £2m he'd be a decent addition to the squad. His career has stalled badly but at his peak he was worth much more than that.

I guess the question is though, is Smith being signed as a striker or is he our Carsley replacement?

Agree with you on this. For £2M he's a good deal, and I think Moyes will place him in the midfield primarily, maybee as striker if Yak needs a break or if we go two strikers. Can't see him up as a lone striker though.

Well as a striker who cant score and a midfielder who cant tackle his best bet is somewhere between the 2? Use him in Cahills role while Timmy is healing up nice then use him as an alternative if we want to rest Tim or play with 2 up front.

I used to like the guy but he is a bit of a d*ck and it might be a hard job to drag all the geordie shiteness out of him, but for the money we could do a lot worse.

I just dont like him, there are some footballers that i just dont like and will never be able to judge them fairly. So my hate for him means i can never see his good points, not that i think he has any.

Dont think Moyes would stand for any of his s**t and I believe he could get the best out of him !!!!!!

I wouldnt mind smith upfront....and upfront ONLY, simlar to AJ when ive seen him play there, works hard, takes no [Poor language removed] and can score...remember at UTD when everyone was injured and he play upfront before dropping back into midfield, he scored something like 10 goals in 8 games i think ?

Agree with you 100% can't see him in Midfield like SAF wanted him he just doesn't work that way. Moyes can see he would be good foil for the Yak. Especially with Cahill's troubles the past season or so due to the injury bug.
