like him or loath him.

selling aj and buying smith isnt proggression and doesnt enhance the squad or give us a better chance of winning anything.

a signing is a signing
its better than nothing and we are just making do.

in fact , thats a really sad :(

so it isnt progression if smith scores the same or more than aj did last season and the 10m+ extra funds we get goes to buy moutinho or just strengthen the squad in general?

thats all if buts and maybe's mate .
i could just as well say ...so is it proggression if we sell aj -whos goes on to be top scorer in the prem and wins all 3 cups for fulham and we buy moutinho who dies in a donkey accident in his first weekend here ?

aj for smith is at 'face value' a step back and not progression imo.

actually thinking about it...

if we kept aj and he died in a donkey accident ,we would be down 8.5 million
if smith died in a donkey accident then we would only be 3 million out of pocket.

so as far as donking accidents go aj for smith is proggression.(y)

perhaps all deals should be based on donkey death potential.

It is all ifs and buts, but i dont understand how selling AJ, buying smith and increasing the kitty by 10m to spend strenghtening the squad isn't a good move.

And whats with the donkey accidents?

granted it financially better - and granted the extra money= extra player possibility - but player for player its not better.

ps we could change it to sheep related accidents if you prefer :)

I'm not a huge fan of him but for £2m he'd be a decent addition to the squad. His career has stalled badly but at his peak he was worth much more than that.

I guess the question is though, is Smith being signed as a striker or is he our Carsley replacement?

the international currency for transfers should be changed to pasties, that way if youve not got enough you can simply bake some more without breaking any laws , unlike printing your own 20's .
