What's wrong with Nikica Jelavic?

I think when Mirallas is fit he should be played through the middle. Put Jelavic on the bench and see how he reacts to it. Bring him on for impact when defences are getting tired until he finds his touch. Just think of the understanding Mirallas and Felli have together, I think it'd work.

I just feel Jelavic needs a reality check that his place isn't guaranteed. Of course, it could backfire and he'd react negatively, in which case he knows where the door is.

He doesn't need motivation. He is working his arse off and linking up play really, really well. Benching him would be the very worst message to send.

Nothing wrong with him today, he was a huge threat. Got really unlucky by hitting the woodwork twice and made Cech pull off a boss save.

Could have done better with the chance at the end but so is life.

He'll be fine

Crazy! He hit the post, the crossbar and fluffed his last chance but there's no-one i'd rather have had that chance. He could have had 3 ffs

Its not like hes doing a Saha and walking around like the world owes him a wage, Hes fighting for everything and working his arse off

Wish he would watch the line a bit better though

that last chance for me proved he isnt the same jelavic from last season atm he would of buried that was so pissed of at him

It was that miss which inspired the comments. I was there today and saw his work rate, he didn't necessarily have luck on his side either, but his touch is missing. Why wait around when we could have Felli off Mirallas? We're dropping points due this lack of conversion. How long are we going to wait for his touch to come back?

Man City are the champions and rotate forwards on an almost weekly basis. If you have alternatives, you don't sit around waiting for someone to discover their touch or you'll be left behind.

So if you were to fit in Mirallas into todays team it would be at the expense of Jelavic?

Probably not into today's team, I'm talking about in a 4-4-1-1 when Felli is availible to play off Mirallas. Those two know each other inside out, we all know it. I'm also pretty sure I saw some Moyes quotes earlier in the season saying he doesn't want us to become predictable. If we have these options to keep the opposition guessing, we should use them. Especially when it looks like one of our forwards has a problem with their touch.

Can't believe how harsh people are being on Jelavic here. Looked a threat all day and put so much pressure on their centre halfs by running at them. Work rate was class.
Free kick was an inch away from a goal, header was an inch away from the goal, forced Cech to make a class save with that shot, even when he had 3 men around him! Only criticism was the chance he fluffed at the end, even then it was a half chance and I think it was Podolski who missed a similar chance to that yesterday in their game against the bar codes.

Jelavic is fine its just he's not getting the luck, hard work brings success and he's working hard. Faith in him, although I'm probably just talking bollocks and he's sh*te

Can you not see the appeal in at least trying Felli behind Mirallas?

I can, but I think if you're playing Mirallas up there he's better behind the striker and not out and out. If we could get a decent right winger in it'd be interesting to see Fellaini Gibson with Mirallas just infront of them two and just behind Jelavic.
Gives Mirallas more of a chance to link up with Felli then and latch onto through balls etc.

I think the best combination we've seen mate was against Swansea? Correct me if i'm wrong but all 3 of Felli, Mirallas and Jelly were in the middle. Mirallas played a 1 2 with Felli after running from our own half, then through balled to Jelavic who slotted like a ****ing boss.

I think the pressure of being the goalscorer is a bit much for Jelly atm. It will come though, he just needs say like 1 goal in 2/3 games over a short period of time
