What's this all about NY Cosmos?

I can't see how this would work, other than a tie up where we send players back and forth.

If you look at how Man City owners have done it with New York City and Melbourne City, they have ensured all teams have "City" in the name, they all play in Sky blue, they are all sponsored by Etihad. I can't see that happening with us and New York Cosmos somehow.

Unless we are going to be rebranded "Merseyside Cosmos" :celebrate:

Oh god Grobelaar is a coach, my Canadian home team is riddled with kopites. I always liked Montreal better anyway, they play in blue at least.

You only have to read the piece to realise that they are obviously in a bit of a mess and looking for some sort of premier league link which might somehow help them back into the MLS.

Our name is pretty big out there so it's not a surprise we've popped up.

What did cantona sue them for ?

unpaid wages.

prior to the saudi group that own them now that Rick Parry fella had something to do with them, if the saudi's arent willing to lob loose change at 'em then how are we in a pos to benefit from any input ? I read that the decision has been made & restated that there wont be a 3rd mls team in the city and even if there was they'd have to stump up about +$70mill to enter.

Not in their league, but the U.S. Open Cup is regionalized early in the competition and they have played the two New York MLS teams a few times. In fact the meeting with NYCFC this year contributed to their problems. A bunch of plastic ultras on both sides showed up and caused trouble, leading to the university that leases their stadium to the Cosmos to withdraw the deal.

check out the masks, they mean business

It's all a ploy. We're gonna have an MLS club where retiring greats will go to, then loan them back to us for a couple months.
Like Lampard/Man City a couple years ago.,

We need to swerve this.
