We could have Messi and Villa upfront and they would both be sitting on 3 goals all Season.

Our midfield takes the pee.

I would buy that Arteta fella from Arsenal, most assists all Season and highest pass rate in the League, decent.

you only get assists if your striker mate can score.

Buddle if he's not completely turd, and a creative midfielder. Bigtime in need of creativity. Then again Saha doesn't run, therefore he never gets onto any potential through balls.

So Saha needs to not play, and we need a creative CM.

There is no guarantee a proven striker would be used properly or supported by the correct logical tactics by Moyes.

Moyes would have no idea what to do with him.

If Bily really is gone for the rumored 5+ million, then we really can start this conversation as there is some real money "available".

So, we already got Gibson.

What else do we want? (the poll is fine, i just figured i'd extend the options for conversation)

From our current team:
- Donovan extended/permanent
- Straq permanent
- Drenthe permanent
- Dier permanent

Rumored moves:
- Pienaar loan/perm
- Onuoha loan/perm
- Buddle loan/perm
- Kenwynn Jones loan/perm
- Other
- Send it to the bank

Sad to say with only 5m, full on signings seem unlikely. And looking at this list, it is easy to see how loans can be good as a temporary measure but at the end of a season, you need to rebuild again. Without investment, we could be sunk next year...

For me, its try to work something out with Donovan.
If that doesn't work, try to work something out with Drenthe.
If that doesn't work, maybe loan Buddle or someone else, and send the cash to the bank AND BLOOD THE YOUNGSTERS. Put on Barkley and Rodwell. We've got talent. Look at Duffy FFS. Don't waste our precious little cash on big names that keep our own talent from achieving.

I'd get rid of Rodwell (if there was interest) for £15m and use the money to buy a playmaker. We have two all round defenders in Gibson and Fellaini, and next season i expect Barkley to be at a stage where he will be used more regularly, even if it's only as a back up.

Take away £10m for the cost of a good creative midfielder and that leaves you with £5m plus whatever we get for Bily (£5m ??). I would try and use that to get a good striker.

Move Coleman to RB, and continue to give Duffy appearances in the first team. Give Distin a 1 year contract extension while Shane gets to grips with being a first 11 player. You then have three relatively young defenders in Coleman, Baines, and Duffy, with Heitinga on the bench and Jags leading the back line.

This is obviously Football manager mode talking and most people would go mad at the thought of selling Rodwell when he's only 20 and for any less than £20m, but i honestly think the money we would get would allow the team to be improved far more than if he was playing for us regularly. We're at the point where the team is living season by season, we can't bank on Rodwell becoming a top top player in 3 years, because it may be too late.

Depressing isn't it ?

(Of course this is in a world where the board aren't a bunch of tits who steal all the transfer money)

Realistically i'd sign Pienaar back, he's the best we'll get for the £5m or so we will have to spend. I would also try and get Donovan to stay, but i just don't see us being able to afford the transfer fee at all.
