I don't understand why we can't have a 60k at BMD?

For me it boils down to ambition; 50k is us saying we're happy to keep finishing between 10th and 7th with the odd European jaunt, perhaps a cup run. 60k says we want to be the best, and break into the top 6, play in the champions league and challenge for titles

Exactly these threads are always daft - like would you rather beat Liverpool home and away or finish top 4. No reason why you can't do both.

Just a personal thing really. I don't know why anyone would want to stand up to watch a match for 90 minutes. I mean when I watch it on telly I don't stand up to watch it...

Surely with B you would have to lower prices to fill the extra seats anyway?

I suppose revenue from food and merch etc could come into it. I don't think we are a destination club for tourists, nor do I think we ever will be. Do City and Chelsea attract tourists? Genuine question, I have no idea.

Would we realistically command regular crowds of 60k? Is it more prudent to build a 50k capacity stadium with the option to expand if it became apparent we needed to? I'm guessing the club has done due diligence in this area?

Yeah would be used occasionally for massive events, concerts etc, but for actual football, it'd be far too big for where we are at as a club

I would imagine if we had a top level stadium in the docks area then there would be plenty of other events that would be held there.

Barcelona are probably the biggest club in the world. Madrid is the nations capital. I don't think they are that comparable.

Not in terms of pure size of club/stadium, but merely that they are massive clubs. They have massive stadiums. Barca aren't playing in front of 40k each week. If we want to be a big club we have to build a stadium that can host a big club (whether that be immediately or in the near future).

I only go to aways, but I (and most people around me iirc) stand pretty much the whole game, and only sit for long stoppages/ht etc.

If there's that much demand I would hope we wouldn't have to lower prices much to fill the seats, except maybe for seats that are noticeably further away than the worse ones currently.

As for tourists, someone else mention this above. I imagine Chelsea might. Again, if we have a brand new stadium at the docks, surrounded by other attractions etc, and people are shilling it during the week etc, then I don't see why we wouldn't get some. Whether it would be a significant amount I'm not sure.

Problem is we don't know. The club haven't exactly been forthcoming with information. So for me, 50k says we don't have the financial muscle to compete. If that's the case, how can we ever hope to make the champions league?

With the others thinking of increasing capacity would or could we lose out commercially, say concerts, European finals or a world cup venue if it ever comes back

I want a capacity based on market research on what we can fill now, and what we can fill in the future. I don’t care if it is bigger than the RS, bigger than Chelsea or bigger than Newcastle.
The size and pricing needs to allow for every seat apart from one getting sold every week. By having one seat you can’t sell, you know there isn’t any demand that you have missed.
If that is 50k, 55k or 61878 I don’t really care

I think 50k is fine for us. Any more and you risk the chance of empty seats all over the place which is rubbish for the atmosphere.
