Player Valuation: £25k
I have just been thinking about why we haven't been scoring many goals under martinez and can only really come to 2 conclusions. The first is a fairly popular one; Jelavic is crap.
The other conclusion I came to will however be massively unpopular. I honestly believe that the reason we aren't winning any games is because of Ross Barkley.
The reason I say this, is not because I think he is a bad player. Far from it, I think he is a terrific player. I say this because I still don't think he understands the position he plays very well. As an attacking midfielder he needs to be the man that break stubborn defences down. He needs to play the intricate through ball when that option is available ( this might also be Jelavics fault as the pass does need to be available) and needs to be the first man to get into the box behind the striker. I think he has the ability to do both very well but at the moment all of his work is being done outside the box.
I think these problems are easily fixed though and don't see any reason to drop him as I am pretty sure he just needs to be told. Step up Bobby.

Bloody hell

There is nothing missing, we are still getting used to a new style of play, just be patient it will click eventually. Don't expect too much this season it could be a challenging one as the team transitions.

Ross Barkley has been a breath of fresh air and our best performer so far. Yes he is still learning but he's doing it in the right place, the pitch not the bench.

People need to calm down we have only played 3 games. We aren't exactly known for our blistering starts are we.

think the three we have brought in are whats missing, leadership, know how, Barry, goals from the big fella and a decent engine in the midfeild and someone who knows the system in mcarthey nothing to worry about its to early

i think the reason we ain't scoring is that we are too slow getting the ball up the pitch...by the time we get to the final third the opposing team are already set-up and harder to break down...what we need is to get the ball forward alot quicker, and i don't mean lump it forward..more incisive forward passing rather than the sideways/backwards passing we seem to be doing so far. it means that the player on the ball needs to have more courage, and look to play it forward rather than safe...and the players further up have to improve there movement so that the pass is on. This will take time as the players we have have been in the 'safety first/take no risks' mode that the former manager favored for so long.

The way the team is playing is far from perfect, but the reality is that if RVP played for us we'd now be sitting top of the table with 9 from 9. As usual, we aren't top because we have no money.

The reason partly why is because we don't create enough chances . We [Poor language removed] foot around in the box and keep the ball to long . We need to quicken things up and with McCarthy we will achieve this . We are also new to this style

I think we've been unlucky. Only really the West Brom game could you be frustrated with, I thought we got everything wrong that day and Martinez played that game with the subs etc, in the exact same way Moyes would have done.
Against Cardiff it was different, they'd just beaten Manchester City so we knew it would be hard but we dominated that game and should have had a penalty that would have broke them down. The referee that day was pathetic.

We have the most shots at goal than any other team

I think there must be something missing. We haven't scored in about 200 mins of PL football. Things don't just "click into place". Teams win games by maximising the players they have got. They achieve this through hard work and tactical astuteness. Things don't just click into place once they have had long enough to knock the ball around.
I think the team is working hard and I am sure they will start scoring eventually. I think Ross is technically brilliant but that doesn't excuse him from criticism. One of the best ways we can unlock teams is by getting the tactics right to maximise his talents. To me it looks like Bobby is just letting him do his own thing, and whilst he does look an incredible player, I cant help but think he can be made into a much more effective player given the right advice ( i.e. get into the box more and support the striker)

I appreciate a lot of you think I am mad criticising Barkley but I get the feeling you all think he is as good as iniesta or xavi. He is no where near but he could be with the right guidance. He cant be exempt from criticism even if he is the new golden boy.

The mask is slipping mate, reign it back in quickly before they think you're not an evertonian
