De La Soul - Say No Go

The song is a cautionary tale about the use of drugs, in particular "base" (otherwise known as crack cocaine); a topic they would tackle on their follow up album, De La Soul Is Dead, albeit from a different perspective, on the song "My Brother's a Basehead".
In the opening line, Posdnuos raps: "Now let's get right on down to the skit / A baby is brought into a world of pits / And if it could've talked that soon / In the delivery room / It would've asked the nurse for a hit".
The song's relevance in 1989, and indeed at present time, was tremendous as it dealt with what had become a new phenomenon in largely urban neighborhoods. This phenomenon later came to be known as the Crack Epidemic.

Peaked in the UK charts in July 1989.

Boss album that had it playing on and off for six months.

Had U2 on today, still brings a bit of moisture to the eyes hearing this one, I haven't lost my father but you can relate with losing loved ones etc:

Can't listen to stuff at work, no sound cards and facethingy is blocked but U2 are one of my favourites from way back, but I try to keep up with the young uns (I'm 55 my lads 22, 27 and 32). My current favourites Muse but do like Powderfinger Foo's Eagles of Death Metal that type of stuff.

5 of the best albums of the last decade, each great in their own way.

Oxon that was me who repped you. I fudged up and sent it without commenting.

I completely agree with you there on The XX and Arcade Fire, two great albums.

Although I'm not that in to Rap/Hip Hop I quite enjoyed The Roots' album too.
