Alice in Chains and Soundgarden were bigger than Smashing Pumpkins.Billy Corgan was actually quite talented. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness was also a huge effort!
It's just too bad that his ego got the better of him towards the end.
Out of the 3 early 90's alternative rock bands that made it big: Nirvana, Pearl Jam and The Smashing Pumpkins, Billy was the only one that embraced fame and being in the limelight... Out of the other 2 front men, Kurt Cobain was too destructive to be in it and Eddie Vedder shunned it. ?
Well, that's my assessment of it how it all went down!
And now Billy has no more hair and he looks like a giant baby!

Corgan is an insufferable prick.
Siamese Dream was an excellent record, though.
Nile are a ridiculous proposition. Egyptology themed "brutal technical death metal" that never gets so technical as to just be pointless fretwanking, and rarely if ever lapses into the dumb misogyny and scatological nonsense of brutal death metal. They just put out stupidly heavy records with meticulous attention to detail, that don't sound like anyone else, and when other bands try to sound like them, they sound stupid.
