Saw these as a 16 year old in a pub in Stoke
Spent an hour backstage with the band afterwards having a few drinks completely enraptured by their stories
One of the best nights of my life
Kyuss sound like a jet taking off, I can only imagine what it would've sounded like in a pub.
Oh it was unreal - basically stood on the stage as well. Still have my signed copy of Sky Valley
The weird thing is - they came back and played the same venue the next year, a crappy little pub on Stoke high street called The Wheatsheaf.
Played 9 dates in England over the years, and 2 of them were in Stoke

At the heart of the initial collection are hundreds of cassette tapes acquired by audio producer and archivist Mark Gergis during multiple stays in Syria between 1997 and 2010. The tapes weren’t originally collected with intentions of developing a public archive or forming a comprehensive overview of Syrian music. Instead, they reflect a period of personal research and curiosity, aided by connections made with local music shops, producers and musicians in Syria during the time. '
