What are you currently listening to?

best metal album ever?

this for me:

I don't know who this album is by!

i love the floyd, favourite band deffo, and Dark Side is in my top 5 albums from them...but I have to admit Time, once the beguiling instrumental build is over and the vocals start, is a little average.

On The Run, Great Gig & Money are up there tho' with the very best that they ever did.
I just love all that late 60's/70's concept album stuff, there was so much amazing stuff back then.

I've never listened to a full Slayer record, would you say this is a good gateway drug? The father of a girl I used to ne sweet on was a session musician for Slayer.

most people say Reign in Blood but personally i reckon Divine Intervention has better songs by way of more technical songstructure, almost proggy...it's still a lot of hi-nrg thrash like. i also prefer Tom's vocals as they've matured nicely by this point, he's got a more infectious rhythm & intonation. good production values too, the album hasn't aged a bit.

If im ever listening to Can and someone else hears it and asks what it is, i always say they are the best band you have never heard of. An amazing collective of truely talented individuals.

I only discovered them once moving to Germany in 2005, being a German band they're more of a name here. A mate who's lead guitarist with Rupert's Kitchen Orchestra (berlin comedy funk) sometimes plays & records with Damo Suzuki (the vocalist from the seminal Can albums), Damo's based in Hamburg these days. Or at least he was a few years ago, haven't heard anything for a few years now.

Favourite Can song for me is this hypnofunk (RIP Jaki Liebezeit !)
