What are you currently listening to?

Aye. Mainly because Windows 8 is so bad it's offensive.

As I said, I used to buy a few albums a week when I was working, I've been a student for 4 years so I just can't afford to buy. I'm looking forward to working again and getting back to it, it's nice having a shelf full of CDs. I've considered starting off a vinyl collection but I wouldn't be wanting to buy albums twice, as you can't put a vinyl on MP3!

I'm sure I read somewhere that there's only like 15 known viruses for Macs or something, or less.

Yeah, it is hard like to buy music if you're a student or whatnot. Be boss to have a dead good vinyl collection. My dad has a half decent one like.

If you d/l music from upload sites like rapidgater, uploaded etc you won't get a virus.

Off blogs like these http://nodata.tv/ http://flunk.blogs.sapo.pt/ http://notonlylossless.blogs.sapo.pt/

Aahhh sound, cheers. I'll check them out.

Yeah there's very few. Apparently it's because Macs have a far smaller market share than Windows does, not because they're more secure!

I've never compared vinyl to CD/MP3 but apparently the sound quality is noticeable. How much would you look to spend on a turntable though?

Yeah, more people have Windows, easier to affect more people. Proper sad people.

It's been a while since my dad played his vinyl's because the one he had was supposed to be all modern for the time but in truth was a bit rubbish. From what I can remember it didn't sound too bad but obviously I didn't care much as I was a kid. My mate bought one recently but I never asked how much it was but it looked really nice.

Best to look around the likes of Amazon and look at reviews from there and YouTube etc. Some go for like £40 but I bet they're probably rubbish.

Aye, very sad indeed. I just don't get the attraction.

Yeah If I was going to get one I'd save up and get a good one, make it last. I always research things to death whenever I'm making a big purchase. The thing with audio equipment is technology advancements are very, very slow. So top equipment is not likely to be bettered for a while. For example, last year I bought a pair of fairly expensive headphones which were released originally in 2008! They're still amongst the top ones for the price range too.

Just re-downloaded DB, good to be back lids.

It's hard isn't it mate because if you blow money on it you sort of want to commit to it being good etc. Be good if one was really good and cheap. Good luck mate, hope you get a proper boss one.

You need to spend a fair bit to make it worth it. I have an entry level Pro-Ject Essential (200quid), a Cambridge Amp (150), a pre-amp and some good old German speakers. I have a 30quid needle (shiuld prob get a better one) As you said, you can get some great 2nd hand stuff which is good as long as it's been looked after, they hold their value well. There is no point getting a 50quid USB vinyl to mp3 thing, it's just a waste of money. You need to make sure ever bit you own is of a fairly good standard though.

What i have is pretty much the cheapest 'good' stuff, it is certainly noticeable with the more you spend on it, but its very noticeable with cheaper stuff. Especially with electronic music

Yeah I thought those vinyl to MP3 would be a bit useless. It'd be good if there was one that is worth the money out there, as I'd buy it. Don't think I'd be looking to get one for at least a few months anyway.
