What are you currently listening to?

So many people with great taste.

Been listening to The Smiths, Joy Division and a lot more from around that era/genre lately, brilliant. Currently got this on.

Love that stuff as well. I still listen to The Queen Is Dead (well, aside from the toaster-bath songs) on a regular basis. One of my buddies just posted a link on my FB page - Rolling Stone mag has vid footage of their third ever gig.

Can't link yet, so just posted the string. (edit... seems I can)

Grew up with Smiths, Cure, Joy Division, New Order, Depeche Mode, Bauhaus and their offshoots in the 80s. I started with some of the follow-up stuff, Charlatans UK, Ride, Beautiful South, Blur before getting stationed on Guam and being musically out of it for a couple years.

For a while, Oberst was the best songwriter out there. Skip the irritating first 90 seconds. After that, it's ALL gold dust.

Grew up with better music than me. I was stuck in the era of terrible boy bands and the rise of dire pop music. Late 90's and 2000's music for ya.
Two brilliant bands. For a while, The Smiths were everything to me.

Both outstanding they were. Sad to see how they both ended in such different ways but went on to do their own things.

Really enjoying this at the moment. Minimalist acoustic "Americana" is how I would describe it.

So much great albums out at the minute I haven't had time to look up any new music.

The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Babyshambles and Kurt Vile have been knocking me away lately. Four great albums, with the two former being strong AOTY contenders.

Also got a leak to the stream of The Naked And Famous' new one. Just as bloody good. Some absolutely huge tracks on the album and all sounds very dreamy. The title track is amazing. Another great album for those who are fans.
