They really should. He stays "in character" all the way through whilst somehow maintaining his own credible personality. His banter is excellent. Smyths gigs are just one massive singalong!

My thoughts entirely. I'd add the Bunnymen, the Clash and the Kinks as great British bands.

The Smiths, though, produced SO MUCH astonishingly good material in a 4 year recording period that, really, only the Beatles (1962-69), Bob Dylan (1962-67) and David Bowie (1970-80) can compare in terms of being on a massive, sustained, almost blemish-free creative roll.
