What about Coleman?

Ive been thinking after seeing Mirallas last night, is it time to put coleman in at RB? Hibbert is a legend and a good defender, but he's very limited going forward. We all watch Everton week in week out and therefore know too well that everything (or the vast majority) off attacking football comes down our left with Bainsey and peanut.

Without a footballing RB we lack balance. So if you stop us on the left - you stop us full stop, as the second half last night demonstrated. Watching Mirallas torture Newcastle last night, and considering he isn't fully fit yet, surely it makes sense to develop what we have on the right to be more like our left. Imagine creating a similar partnership on the right?

So is it time for Coleman at right back?

Coleman should be given a run of games at RB. I'd expect him to be playing there against Leeds and maybe can force his way into PL games with another decent outing.

This should have been tested way before now.

Don't think Hibbert deserves to be dropped at the moment - if he gets injured or loses form I'd put Coleman there over Neville.

Id only play Coleman at RB if we had 5 at the back, so someone can cover when he goes on his runs.

baines gets forward plenty why dont we need cover for him???

one goes forward at a time its not that complicated. its not like we are attacking down both wings at once

almost every cross he puts in is a waste and are from poor positions,

also for some stupid reason he seems to take some set pieces

Though most of his crossing was good last night, and has been for a few seasons to be honest. He's even developed a few silky touches as well.

It's not really about whether he deserves it or not though, it's about putting out the best 11 to win us games.

You could tell Mirallas was crying out last night for a fast fullback who could bomb down the wing for him to play the ball to, Hibbert will never be up to that no matter what his form is like.

Coleman at RB (or another RB being brought in) is the number 1 thing we need to look at to improve our attacking play. Coleman just needs to prove he can handle the defensive side of the game, which he can't do unless he gets proper game time in that position. And i don't just mean 15 minutes against Leeds either, he needs to be starting.

Ummmm, Coleman and Mirallas running at the oppositions defence?
I like the sound of that!
If they could get their link-up play to be the same level as Baines/Pienaar,
I'll fap till I could fap nomore!

i actually thought mirallas and hibbert linked up quite well last night. i could be wrong but it seemed like they were developing quick chemistry

They did play well mate, but i don't really think it's about how well Hibbert plays, he will never have pace and will never be attack minded enough.

I like Hibbert, but if Coleman can prove his defensive abilities then it's a no brainer of who should play there imo.

Primarily, a RBs job should be to defend and Hibbert does this well. His attacking is average, looks a bit lost at time but can ping in a decent cross every so often. Obviously we'd like a Baines type who could do both attacking and defending but I can't say that Coleman is the answer to that. I genuinely think he's not up to it atm. Maybe in the future but I'm not sure his positioning or tackling is of a standard where he could dislodge Hibbert. Not forgetting Neville has dibs on the position when he doesn't have to massacre the CM role. Maybe League Cup.

I don't see how anybody can have a proper opinion about Coleman's defensive ability at RB, he's barely played there.
