We are where we are cos we blew £100m on crappy players except for KDH. If you ain't got TWO decent strikers in your squad you ain't going to score enough goals. If you don't score goals you don't win games. There lies the reason we're struggling for top 6. And TWO decent strikers in the summer window are going to cost upwards of £50m each and a great feeling we won"t get that to spend.
So we are better than last season then which is what I said? Dear me, the past few seasons, granted not as much last season, but if missing out on top six was all I had to worry about when I was hoping Pickford saves the pen v Maddison. To not get cut adrift I would have taken it 100 percent.

Is Moyes the answer next season? Possibly not no, but we needed the stability

I have been in the Moyes camp since he returned, I still said he has done a good job in getting us to mid-table but I am now convinced that is as far as he can take us. I am a bit risk adverse, I can see the issues with putting in untested players where you can’t be sure what you are going to get but to continue to play players with experience who you know don’t win you games is very poor. I would much prefer to see us taking a chance on new talent and trying to win rather than just trying to get beat a bit more slowly.
I have a theory that it is not in the interests of the majority of our players to get into Europe, European football would attract better class players and they would take the place of the present lot.
When TFG took over I thought it would take us 3 years to get to some form of European football, unfortunately I got caught in the hype and thought we might do it this year, silly me. Of the team that played today only Pickford, Ndiaye, Garner and Dewsbury-Hall would give me any confidence of getting into a Europe, Tarks would be fine playing with a ball playing centre half. Can’t say about O’Brien as he is a centre half playing out of position. Gana was that level but sadly he has reached his sell by date. As for Moyes I think he has reached his glass ceiling.
Roll on the summer window and a centre forward, a winger, a midfielder, two full backs and possibly a centre half. A good manager would also help.

I assume a lot of people need to back away from the cliff? Terrible result today sure but damn a still way better season than I thought it would be. I don't even care about Europe anymore, just want to finish the season strong in general.

Dubious no call on the clear handball and whatever the hell Tarkowski was doing, obviously didn't help either.

Despite endlessly getting opportunities to claim European football, we just can't seem to kick on. The amount of times this season we've been on the edge of it is unbelievable.

Players seem to be coasting out the season for some reason

Sorry didn’t mean to be rude, but you said we never got anywhere with Moyes and he did take us in to Europe on a budget.
And what happened when we got there. Always knocked out early by poor sides. What I’m getting at is his mentality. We’ve just gone to one of the worst sides in the league and his game plan was sit back and hit them on the break. What ambitious side would do that? That’s his mentality. Yes he kept us up and I thank him for that but he did take over from one of the worst managers we’ve ever had. The squad should never have been in a relegation battle in the first place. He’s too negative. Look at his record against top sides, woeful. I don’t ask for unrealistic goals but I can’t accept setting for just getting by. As long as he’s here that’s all we will do
