The problem is our defence is old and slow and our midfield is piss poor.

Modern football is about attacking and defending as a team. We can defend as a team by playing deep but behind our front 3 the quality on the ball is woeful so we just punt it long hoping to win a free kick and nick a point on a set piece.

Koeman played the same. Well he would because it was the squad he assembled to do that job.

The question remains whether Big Sam plans to change that or has been brought in to implement this strategy more effectively. So far the first part has been accomplished and all we can do is hope it will improve.

And that's the thing for me, can a manager change (tactically etc) after playing a certain way nearly all his managerial career? I don't think he can (even with the cash he could spend here) that's why he's only here short term for me.

Errr...............I would be happy if we had actually had a go against the team who hadn't won in 17 prem games, and were second from bottom in the prem, instead of us parking the bus. Whether we got a point or not, I don't see what the problem is in my thinking, I could understand it against Chelsea, the RS, but West Brom?

It's all about opinions, I'm glad of a point (especially after they missed 2 sitters) but I don't have to be happy about the negative/defensive way we set-up.
But it's all about confidence isn't it? When we were getting destroyed by the likes of Southampton you could see that the players had no belief in themselves. So now we're keeping clean sheets and the confidence is building. West Brom may not have won for 18 matches, but they have scored goals and drawn a lot of games. You say you're not bothered whether we get points or not, but isn't that the whole point of the competition? T amass points? No point in being the most entertaining team ever to get relegated.

This is not Sams team it is that of the previous manager who took us into a relegation fight. We were 18th now 9th - it was a needs must with Allardyce and so far he is delivered in making us hard to beat - what would you prefer?

There seems to be a school of thought that Everton can only play football in one of two ways :-
(i) play entertainingly and get beat; or
(ii) play mind numbingly boringly and get 0-0 draws.

Personally I don't hold to this, I prefer somewhere in between

Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic. oh yes what was it ahh pathetic. Never mind the performance we should have won this game it was crucial. Allardyce has shown a defence can be organised now how about midfield and attack? He needs to wake up. All very well keeping clean sheets but they do not win games!!!!!! 38 games in the pl, if you draw them the team ends with 19 points, rubbish!

Got to do one hell of a lot better.

Unfortunately mate, with this current squad, we either have a go and get bummed, or defend and get a draw.
We just don't have the personnel at present, all thanks to Ronald.

Should of got at them from the off an early goal would of probably seen their fans frustrated and on their teams back, instead we let them have the ball and gain confidence whilst we just get it and boom it up the pitch to Calvert-Lewin who i feel sorry for..

Missed opportunity for 3 points and to close the gap on those above i think

I'm assuming you've had one too many sherry's tl as if you draw all 38 games you end up with 38 points not 19.

Still, I get your point though;)

Yep, let me see.
A good sized brandy at lunch time
Between me and my wife we have finished off a bottle of white wine
and two bottles of prosecco
and have just started on a darn good bottle of McGuigans shiraz, hic!!

Still a bloody poor show to have not beaten WBA.;)
