The problem is our defence is old and slow and our midfield is piss poor.
Modern football is about attacking and defending as a team. We can defend as a team by playing deep but behind our front 3 the quality on the ball is woeful so we just punt it long hoping to win a free kick and nick a point on a set piece.
Koeman played the same. Well he would because it was the squad he assembled to do that job.
The question remains whether Big Sam plans to change that or has been brought in to implement this strategy more effectively. So far the first part has been accomplished and all we can do is hope it will improve.
And that's the thing for me, can a manager change (tactically etc) after playing a certain way nearly all his managerial career? I don't think he can (even with the cash he could spend here) that's why he's only here short term for me.
