Tim Cahill has hailed the impact David Moyes has had on his career and admits he is planning on following him into management.

The Australia international was taken to Goodison Park by Moyes in 2004 and has provided outstanding value for money.

Cahill has been one of the Premier League's most consistent performers during his time with the Toffees, providing a regular source of goals during his seven seasons with the club.

He has been quick to acknowledge the part Moyes has played in moulding him into the player he is today and believes the Scot is one of the finest tacticians in the business.

Cahill told GrandOldTeam.com: "Moyesy has been very loyal to the club and I think I have learned a lot from him over the years.

"He is always there and is a constant source of motivation for the lads - especially when things are not going so well.

"Management would definitely be something I would consider when I decide to call it a day as a pro."

"He is always honest with the players and I think this has been important for us, as a team, in recent seasons.

"We have a great group of players at the club and I think this is largely down to the work of the boss - he has made some great signings and we all have a great understanding of each other which helps massively when you are trying to win matches."

Cahill has revealed that he hopes to follow in Moyes' footsteps in the future, with it his intention to turn his hand to coaching once his playing days are over.

The 31-year-old added: "I definitely want to remain involved in football - it has been my life for so long now and I don't know what I would do without being involved in some shape or form.

"Management would definitely be something I would consider when I decide to call it a day as a pro.

"I have learned so much since I began playing in England and I would love the opportunity to pass some of this information on to other players and hopefully be a successful manager and win some trophies!"

It speaks volumes about the professionalism and reputation of this website that it's namechecked by a respectable, albeit Murdoch ran massive organisation like Sky - and so prominently.

Well done Dan :)

Has been posted on OS as well in the what the papers say article

It's in the daily post and the Echo

Congrats to GOT

Bit of a bah humbug here, as I think/thought it was a great coup from D/D to get the interview. And it's good to get the publicity and branding for the forums.

But it does wind me up that papers are all over forums for quoting stories (in some cases setting legal teams onto them and closing sites who can't afford the costs) and i) the so-called journalists can't be bothered to get and use their own stuff and ii) the newspaper sites' policy is uniformly not to link to the original story (which is what they often require in reverse for a paragraph quote from one of theirs).

(Links are important for visibility for sites like this.)

If I were D/D I would be mightily tempted to send a linage bill to Trinity Mirror and Murdoch just to make the point.

Bitterly disappointed with the Liverpool Echo - but then, it is what it is.

We weren't consulted in their decision to copy and paste our exclusive interview to be published as their main back page story, and also advertised on the front. Where's the courtesy? The same applies to the Daily Post. I was tempted to publish another story saying the interview was fictional!

But anyway - delighted with coverage from Sky Sports - they also cited the website on Sky Sports News.

Thanks all for kind words.

You've got copyright.

If you want me to draft a letter (to pass to you) demanding that they acknowledge copyright let me know lid.

I'm in a p******* off mood as it is lad. I'm considering suing a well known electricity company over their business practices. The Liverpool Echo are small fry.

FFS. We're Everton. And this is GrandOldTeam.com.

We demand some respect!

Either way - GrandOldTeam was mentioned on Sky Sports News!

We're going places, us. We're like the meff who won the lottery. It'll only be a matter of time before we mess up.
